Pokémon Ultrasun and Ultra Moon is an enhanced version of its predecessors and it keeps all of their quality. Unfortunately, there are few new and actually noteworthy features. Also, from a technical point of view, it still has some problems. Necrozma's story could have been managed much better: like this, it's almost a copy with a different ending of the one we saw in Sun and Moon.

A funny and approachable fighting game that uses perfectly Nintendo Switch portability. Perfect for local or online multiplayer matches, it features great technical improvements over its Wii U version, but lacks of interesting content when it comes to single player modes. The Deluxe version can be considered the definitive edition of Pokkén Tournament.

7.5 / 10.0 - Night in the Woods
Mar 1, 2017

Night in the Woods is a charming game. I was fascinated by its general atmosphere, graphics and music, which I found amazing. It's a good adventure overall, with very well written dialogues, but its bare mechanics made it kinda boring for me. The player doesn't really have to do that much, remaining extremely passive. It's interesting how the designers were able to deal with difficult themes such as depression, anxiety and child abuse in a very congenial way, without sounding too inane or obnoxious, but they did put a lot of accent on these aspects making the real plot marginal.

Pokémon Sun and Moond clearly want to change some aspects of a long-standing series. The new features actually bring some of the mechanics up-to-date and, at last, there's a good level of challenge. A deeper plot makes the whole adventure even more enjoyable, too. Unfortunately, there are also some flaws: Alola is definitely too linear and the Pokédex has very few new entries. Overall, the graphics are good, but the frame rate drops dramatically kinda often.

Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 is overall fun, but too similar to its prequel. The story is practically the same and even the mechanics weren't improved that much. Plus, the graphics are very poor for a game only available on the latest consoles.

With Mario Party: Star Rush the classic and static mechanics of the series finally changes (for the better!). Overall, it's a decent party game, and it's fun to play by yourself, too. Its weak points are a lack of minigames, which make the main mode boring after few hours, and some slow loading times.

Spirit of Justice has every quality and every flaw of the Ace Attorney series. On the western edge of far East you'll find a great story, amazing characters and that sense of humor we all learned to love. But you'll also find a linear game with very few changes. A solid visual novel overall.

BioShock: The Collection is a good remaster, with graphics visibly improved. It includes all single-player content from the three games and that makes this collection perfect for those who never played a BioShock in their life, but the lack of freshly new content makes it less suitable for longstanding fans.

Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past is a classic JRPG with a lot of enjoyable contents, but characterised by a slow pace.

8.2 / 10.0 - Yo-Kai Watch
Apr 20, 2016

Yo-Kai Watch is a game with a great personality and a highly approachable combat system, but not free from major flaws: the random Yo-Kai capture system can be kinda frustrating, and it's a shame that it doesn't have an online multiplayer feature.

7.9 / 10.0 - Pokken Tournament
Mar 15, 2016

Pokkén Tournament is more than a mere fighting game with Pokémon: it has fine mechanics and it's very funny. Unfortunately, it's not perfectly balanced in every aspect and its graphics could be improved. Other flaws can be found in its AI and in the boring story mode.

While Pokémon Super Mystery Dungeon can be considered a fair enough roguelike with some interesting feature, its quality is damaged by an unbalanced difficulty.

9 / 10.0 - Undertale

Undertale is a fresh and original indie adventure: great story, great characters and a wonderful soundtrack.

Minecraft Wii U Edition is just another version of Mojang's great sandbox. Unfortunately, there is an evident lack of Wii U GamePad integration that makes its use very prosaic. If you've already played another version of Minecraft, you probably won't be thrilled.

Project Zero: Maiden of Black Water is a survival horror with the right atmosphere. Unfortunately, it fails to enhance the Wii U GamePad.
