I can pick it up invaluable minutes of spare time, play in friendly bouts with others, or be seriously engaged and strategic – either on a large screen or on a tablet. It does not feel as if anyone is significantly disadvantaged in how they choose to approach Puyo Puyo Tetris, and that is something that I haven’t said about many games recently that have tried to balance the solo/co-op/online experience.
One of the delights about the Nintendo Switch is being able to see opportunities for independent developers to take a small aspect of the technology and Harmonious Games have really taken the Switch’s objectives to heart – bringing some people together to just play a game and have a good time. Putty Pals is, simply put, syrupy goodness from a local Australian publisher who is obviously doing additional research into the impact of too much saccharine on the general populace.
That was where I found that The Sims 4 sparkled – in the moments when I did nothing at all. And it almost felt insulting that the game didn’t exactly trust me to do anything. In passive view it is pristine, but the minute that I tried to do something it baffled, confuddled, and told me that I just did not have the skills to do things right.
By the standards that I was forced to endure in my youth, Chamber of Time is several leagues ahead of the rest and has some delightfully enjoyable moments and some well-thought-out RPG elements to personalise your experience. By the standards of either the exploration or brawler genres today, it just passes through to warrant a look and a dabble before you get back to more immersive titles in your gaming library.
Unravel Two will help you feel that fragile but precious thread once again. In its initial seven levels and numerous additional challenge stages, you will appreciate that delicate little piece of yarn. There will be moments when your instincts help you progress forward, and other times where you just need to feel the weight of that truss as it plummets onto the ground while you think of how to tackle that seemingly impossible challenge.
Overall it is a great port with a couple of nice little additions for Nintendo fans and has some medium-term appeal for people who want to play in portable mode or with other Nintendo Switch owners. I wouldn’t trade in my current-gen versions of the game, but would definitely buy in order to have one of the best isometric action RPGs on Nintendo’s flagship console.
