Freelance games journalist. Robby lives and breathes video games. When he's not playing them, he's talking about them on social media or convincing other people to pick up a controller themselves. He's online so often, he could practically list the internet as his legal domicile. Belgian games-industry know-it-all.

All things considered, should you buy the Definitive Edition and play through it again if you already had the original version? Considering there are extra areas that have been added and the game has gotten easier (or harder if you choose to) + you can now traverse it more easily; I can wholeheartedly recommend it. I doubt many people will feel satisfied by one playthrough either way so this is the best possible method to experience it again. For players who are new to the game: It's no longer possible to buy the old version but it'll be included for free when you buy the Definitive Edition.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake is a love-letter to the source material. It does a much better job at telling the gripping story and makes you truly feel for the inhabitants of Midgar. Lay to rest any worries you may have had over its length as well, as this first “episode” will provide you with a full game’s worth of content.

Quite possibly the best RPG of its kind. Epic story with heartfelt moments, best-in class combat, gorgeous graphics and music that will linger for the rest of my life. I’ll be humming some of these tunes in the retirement home. Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is the real thing. This game will go down in history as a must-play RPG.

Invector Rhythm Galaxy is the perfect follow-up to an already perfect rhythm game. Its eye-popping visuals light up my living room as its bass lines make my teeth chitter in pure glee. This game makes me happy and that is probably the best praise I can think of.

98 / 100 - Balatro
Feb 21, 2024

Balatro deals a winning hand with its innovative twist on an age-old formula. It breaks the rules of poker in many fun yet unfair ways, with playthroughs that are as varied as a shuffled deck. It’s a title I can see myself sinking hundreds of hours into and if other 2024 titles hope to have a shot at Game Of The Year, they better up the ante!

9.5 / 10.0 - SOMA
Dec 16, 2017

SOMA is above anything else, an experience. The game's story is bound to stick with you for months after playing it, just like a great movie. It's pacing is damn near perfect and any fan of the genre should hit themselves over the head of they continue to ignore this one.

9.5 / 10.0 - Aaero
Jul 28, 2017

Aaero is an amazing experience with one of the best soundtracks I ever had the joy to listen to. It's genuinely fun to play and the songs will stick with me for weeks to come. It's a brilliant work of audio-visual art and my only complaint is there aren't more tracks to enjoy. If I ever see DLC for it, it'll be a snap purchase! Because as Flux Pavilion would say it: "I can't Stop"

Assassin's Creed Origins takes the series in a new direction with more RPG elements and it's better for it. The game has a huge map with an incredible density of things to do which will keep you busy for well over 100 hours. It looks amazing and especially those playing on an Xbox One X hooked up to a 4K/HDR TV will not believe their eyes at how simply gorgeous it is. The production quality here is off the charts and I can't help but look forward to where the series might be headed next. But for now? I'll gladly dive back in for a NewGame+

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey is an amazing achievement and would have been a definitive contender for game of the year if 2018 wasn’t such a mind-boggling year for video game quality.

95 / 100 - Super Mario RPG

In a year of Nintendo triumphs, the Super Mario RPG remake by ArtePiazza is no exception. This nostalgic journey from the SNES era brings a rush of Nintendorphines, leaving me grinning from ear to ear throughout the game.

Advance Wars 1+2: Re-bootcamp is a nostalgic blast from the past, with updated graphics and gameplay that will make both new and old fans of the series fall in love all over again. It’s a tactical masterpiece that will have you commanding your troops with military precision, where each move you make could be the checkmate that secures your victory.

Hellblade Senua's Sacrifice is an incredible audiovisual experience, regardless of the platform you are playing it on. While in handheld mode the level of immersion might be somewhat reduced, the audio is where it really counts and that aspect is every bit as good on the Switch as on the more powerful consoles. If you have yet to play this game, listen to the voices in your head and pick this up, you won't be disappointed!

While the game may be too easy at times, it’s perfectly tuned for its target audience and a welcome stress-reliever for adults. It’s the perfect game to play alongside your children or to teach them how to play games as you can cooperatively get through the level, giving them a helping hand. The GORGEOUS Visuals have to be seen on a 4K/HDR screen to be believed and you’ll feel as if you’re truly a part of the Pixar worlds so credibly brought to life. Don’t skip on this game if you or your children are Pixar fans!

9 / 10.0 - Fe
Feb 20, 2018

Fe is a work of art. It's a tale of beauty and wonder and I thoroughly enjoyed discovering all this magical forest had to offer. It could have used a few more moments that were grand in scale like the colossal deer and I would have appreciated some help from the game in finding all the collectibles that I've missed, but I can wholeheartedly recommend it to players of any age.
