I’m not going to say Undertale is a must play game like most people. Yes I can see why people see it as being earth shatteringly good, but I really don’t see what all the fuss is about. The gameplay is slow paced and bland and graphically it is just awful. What you are getting with Undertale is a fantastic soundtrack, and hugely original plot. I can quite happily say I could have got the same experience out of Undertale from just watching a play through online. Credit where credit is due though, the story is really good and it is probably Undertale’s biggest selling point. The game has a good price point so even if you are on the fence, it’s not like you are going to break the bank with trying it out.
I am going to go out on a limb here and say that GTA V is one of, if not the greatest video game out there today.
Life is Strange: Before the Storm: Episode 1 has got off to a little bit of a stuttering start for me. I was very disappointed by the art style of choice, but the story that is unfolding will certainly be the most impactful feature of the game, much like the first. If the franchise is something you are in love with, then it will be a no brainer as I can’t really see them messing up the story.
South Park: A Fractured But Whole is a worthy successor to A Stick of Truth. With all of the South Park goodies there for fans of the franchise, and some neat little tweaks to series that keeps it feeling fresh.
If you haven’t played Dark Souls up until now because of the difficulty, then Dark Souls 3 still isn’t going to change that. It’s the tried and tested gameplay, with a few polished up features. It is by far the best game in the series, but it is only going to appeal to a certain demographic of gamer. Those who enjoy the test of increasingly difficult combat systems, a slow and methodical approach to progression and who don’t get frustrated easily will certainly have already played Dark Souls 3 by now, but if it’s sitting in your library and you have always wondered “Am I good enough?” Then the answer is almost certainly “No, you are not you absolute scrub” but you should still boot up Dark Souls 3 for an epic experience you cannot get anywhere else.
To put it simply, The Witcher 3 is a piece of modern gaming’s history and is a masterpiece that every RPG fan will need to experience if they haven’t already.
Slightly underwhelmed, but still a classy shooter that will be made 100% better if played with friends. Future content will make or break the longevity of Destiny 2 though.
The three hours I had playing AER were fun, but I won’t have any everlasting memories of this game, and neither will I probably remember what even happened a few days from now. A forgettable experience that had plenty of opportunities to be more.
The New Colossus may just be a surprise contender for game of the year for me. I enjoyed every second of my time with this game
I enjoyed every minute of it. I would have like to see the price drop a little bit over the course of the past two years but you are still getting a game that is a joy to play from start to finish here.
Life is Strange: Before the Storm - Episode 2: Brave New World, has certainly picked up the season for me, and elevating it on par with the original season. I must now patiently wait for the next episode!
The conclusion of Batman Arkham Knight may come as a controversial one. We are going to highly recommend Arkham Knight. The game play and interesting compelling story make it a definite worthwhile play through.
The story and banter between characters are Deadbeat Hero’s major strong points, but the annoying gating mechanics on show for slowing down progression and forcing replaying previous levels halted my enjoyment for the game, and to top it off, I didn’t really enjoy looking at the game either. An interesting story that has been let down by some poor choices on the mechanic front.
A fast paced, action oriented Cyberpunk thriller that kept me coming back for more. A stunning title that fans of the genre will love.
Picking right up where we left off in episode 2, with more important choices to make. More Than a Feeling sets up the rest of the season for high hopes, and we cannot wait to see what's in store.
Football fanatics will adore any edition of Football Manager - being the latest release chock-full of new features while still keeping what made the previous games great, there is no better place to start learning than here.
With the season ramping up in tempo and the story really tethering off towards a conclusion, Guardians of the Galaxy is really turning into one of Telltale’s best series’ to date.
The end of the episode does lend itself to a second season coming out, with a mysterious figure finding Thanos’ body. I hope this does lead onto a second season as I found Telltale’s Guardians of the Galaxy to be one of my favourites. Episode 5 does have a slight premature ending, but ultimately rounds off the season pretty well.
Unfortunately, my first experience with a Sonic game isn’t one I am hoping to remember for years to come, in fact Sonic Forces is a very bland and forgettable game. The lacklustre 3D platforming, and boring boss fights condemn Sonic Forces to a bargain bin level of release.
Super Mario Odyssey has certainly got PC Aficionado’s venture in Switch reviews off to a good start. This is easily one of my all time favorite games, and I will be surprised if Odyssey is not voted as 2017s Game of the Year. Either way there are going to be one set of angry fans, with Mario and Zelda both vouching for most people’s votes. I’m not going to say Super Mario Odyssey is a perfect 10/10, but it comes damn near close, and it is a must buy for any Switch owners. In fact, this is a console seller it self. If you were on the fence about buying a Switch before, Odyssey should push you well and truly over to the store.
