In Asterix & Obelix Slap Them All 2 the asset reuse rhymes with a missed occasion. As the drawn graphic and the original plot tries to do something new for its genre, the game falls again into a massive reuse of what done in 2021. It's still a fun game and it can be a good solution to share some good evenings playing together with a friend, but only the most irreducible fans will accept to buy it.

Degrees of Separation is difficult to judge. It features a traditional side-scrolling progression with hand-drawn graphic, but it's somehow limited by its own design. This brings to a lot of puzzles that are actually frustrating instead of brain-ticklers. But this game also features an incredible fairy-tale atmosphere together with a great soundtrack. And are these features that save it from the abyss. But only from it.

Asterix & Obelix XXL 3 moves on a awfully thin line. Despite its being fun both on single and cooperative play, and a good conversion of the atmosphere of the original comicbook series, too many times this game stops only to "snack fun". It seems that there was a "change of mood" from the previous games of the series, which came to avoid all the exaggeration and satire that made the XXL brand well-known, to follow the recent road digged by the CG animated movies about the character. For irreducible fans only, more than ever.

Romance of the Three Kingdoms XIV still carries the hard tradition of strategic games on console. The game gives a great deal both on personalization and historical context, and tries to recover a more traditional conception, giving a better result on commanding in a strategic gameplay with a gamepad, instead of a mouse. However, even if the satisfaction of conquering and well-administrating land it's undeniable, this search for tradition pushes the game further towards only a specialized niche of public.

The first Darksiders still remains a game developed with competence and most of all concrete passion for gaming; its limits are consequences of both hurry and inexperience. All its flaws were reasonable on old-gen, but the flowing of years has grown them bigger, and this is a thing we cannot neglect by reviewing it today. But we must also honestly say that a very little effort is enough to overcome all these flaws and live War's quest with the intensity it deserves.

All-Star Fruit Racing is a good debut kart game. It's the effort of a newcoming software house who does not compete against great kart games, but it also say it has not this ambition. They developed a game that is funny, creative and user-friendly. Its strongest features lie in the track design and the weapon system, but its flaws are a too simple driving system and drivers with few charisma. It's a summer videogame, to have fun together with family and friends.

7 / 10.0 - Surviving Mars
Mar 15, 2018

Surviving Mars does not speak to the casual gamer, but it's also a good city-builder. Its creators Haemimont Games deeply love science-fiction, and they demonstrated it by giving their game a variety of scenarios together with its citybuilder nature. It deserves time to be appreciated, but seeing your colony become operative is always a satisfaction. Veterans could find a relatively new way to see science-fiction on their genre. Due to rigid gamepad controls, newcomers may consider the PC.

Assassin's Creed Rogue Remastered is a strange paradox. It's a "link" chapter, that concludes the concepts born on previous gen consoles, but on the other hand it actually says something new about the series and its background. There are lot of recycled ideas, but here they reach the better compromise between engagement, free-roaming, plot and optional tasks. The remaster also does not give specific changes except from the stabilized frame-rate, so if you are not collectors you will not be so incentivate to rebuy it. If you have discovered the series from Black Flag and Unity, consider giving it a possibility.

Warriors All-Stars is a dress rehersal. It's a great party with many special guests, waiting for the upcoming Dynasty Warriors 9. It mantains the funny and the canonic gameplay of the series, and it also features good ideas that try to deep the experience, in a manner similar to RPG. Is it is now, the game is a very good example of fanservice, but it also may represent a good starting point for newcomers.

7 / 10.0 - Collar X Malice
Aug 16, 2017

Collar X Malice is a well-crafted visual novel, with thought estetics and elaborated plot. The story itself is deep with lot of possibile interpretations. But this game also features all limits of its genre: dialogues are often too long and there are design limits that are not common to the contemporary audience. Those will be able to overcome these flaws will discover a deep story with great replayability.

7.1 / 10.0 - A Memoir Blue
Apr 1, 2022

Don't call it a walking simulator: A Memoir Blue is a poetical tale of a mother and her daughter. Through it's not a perfect game, A Memoir Blue is a simple and intense adventure that makes you overcome all its flaws. Although we've seen such its type tale one million times, A Memoir Blue retells it in a sincere and autobiographical manner, which makes the game worth playing.

Rediscover Assassin's Creed III on this remastered versioni s a bit weird. The game still retains a great vision on representing American Revolution, but it's also clear that their ambitions for Connor's adventure were too big. Despite its renovated graphic the game still suffers technical issues both old and new. Only the inclusion of the Assassin's Creed Liberation chapter could still make this game worth a try.

Dynasty Warriors 9 Empires gives the player a wide and deeper range of possibilities than its predecessors to lead a successful campaign conquering third-century China. However, despite its deeper management and its simple (indeed solid) one-versus-thousands formula, it fails to complete develope its growth from the past, also struggling with a graphic engine still overwhelmed with fatigue and technical issues. Give it a try (even with the demo) and then decide.

We've really appreciated the return of Goscinny & Uderzo's creature in videogame with this Asterix & Obelix Slap Them All. Choosing an arcade beat'em up was a fitting idea, and the decision to merge it with an exquisite hand-drawn graphic was the best way to start a new beginning for Asterix in modern gaming. However, the game reuses too much assets throughout the adventure and it's victim of its own repetitiveness, which prevents him to reach higher scores. Perhaps the masterpiece is not on sight, but the Gauls have taken the right road to reach it.

It's really cool that Valiant Hearts: Coming Home exists. Not only because it is the sequel-completion of one of the most beautiful products ever created by Ubisoft, but also because it was chosen to use it as a forerunner towards a new method of distribution – of which it is still too early to understand consequences and developments, but which if applied to video games like him is an opportunity to bring to light the educational and thematic value, as well as a mere entertainment product, of the video game.

7.5 / 10.0 - Strange Brigade
Aug 28, 2018

Strange Brigade is Rebellion's attempt to develop something new, an action third-person shooter that makes of playability and fun its principal objectives. Through the game is a fun and light experience, it should be played not too much in a row, because of the confusion that sometimes affects the on-screen action. It's a game developed with professionality and a fine amount of inspiration, and it could be a good way to pass these last summer days or to begin with the TPS world.

7.5 / 10.0 - Dynasty Warriors 9
Feb 13, 2018

Dynasty Warriors 9 is far from perfection. It has technical issues, its gameplay needs time to be appreciated and seems a bit lazy when he must do something different from action. But it's also powerful and passionate, strictly following Guanzhong's original Romance of the Three Kingdoms. Perhaps the limited open-world system will seem a missed occasion, but the advice we can give is to give it a chance, and to do it out of any preconception.

7.5 / 10.0 - ECHO
Nov 5, 2017

ECHO is a good videogame debut: it's a fantascientific monologue about solitude represented like a theatre play. Its "scene" is highly detailed, but the game is not very technically optimized. The gameplay is deeply based on stealth, but sometimes it lacks of classical mechanics of the genre. Its minimal cast provides a different vision of the science-fiction future, and it's recommended mainly to those who like such an intimistic vision. Others may consider to ponder about.
