Critic Reviews for Asterix & Obelix XXL 3 - The Crystal Menhir
This action game holds part of the charm of the original comic, but can´t manage to offer a good balance on the gameplay side. Too tedious, too hard for a family friendly game.

sterix & Obelix XXL 3: The Crystal Menhir lands on the Nintendo Switch with some of the best elements of the Astérix comic series, such as a marvelous visual environment and fun dialogues, as well as an additional top-notch vocal work. Its gameplay doesn't rise up to the same threshold though, as its very simplistic and repetitive mechanics and flat plot make this an experience that doesn't go higher. As such, The Crystal Menhir is mostly recommended for players who want a simple game, rather than a complex experience.

As an adaptation of the world-renowed french comics, Ast'rix & Ob'lix XXL3 does quite the job but the levil design in general lacks of inventiveness, especially in co-op mode. The solo mode is not very engaging either because we can't give orders to the second character, not to mention that the AI is very defective.

Asterix & Obelix XXL 3 moves on a awfully thin line. Despite its being fun both on single and cooperative play, and a good conversion of the atmosphere of the original comicbook series, too many times this game stops only to "snack fun". It seems that there was a "change of mood" from the previous games of the series, which came to avoid all the exaggeration and satire that made the XXL brand well-known, to follow the recent road digged by the CG animated movies about the character. For irreducible fans only, more than ever.

This Holiday season you honestly couldn’t get a better family-fun game to play, and there’s a lot to sink into here. There’s no flash-in-the-pan design around this; it’s full of longevity, replayability and life -- everything you want in a game for everyone. Highly recommended.
It is a new portion of Romans for well-known heroes. Too linear and stereotypical journey, slightly better in cooperation.

If you wanted to play worthy succesor of classic Asterix & Obelix XXL series, well, you get to wrong adress. Asterix & Obelix XXL 3 - The Crystal Mehnir should be called just The Crystal Menhir. Everything it has to offer is boring and repetitive gameplay that has nothing to do with playstyle of its predecessors. It's not a 3D platformer but a cheap slasher with painfull controls that was made only to get some cash without any effort. Storyline of this game is not interesting at all and you will definatelly see lack of humor that its crucial to Asterix series. What can I say? Stay away from this!

Asterix & Obelix XXL 3 - The Crystal Menhir is a game that doesn't feel necessary from a saga that saw its two releases in the 128-bit generation. It is not very well understood why the game has been rescued from the trunk of memories, and why it has done so by changing the style of play for an air view beat'em up, but although the game fails to stand out at all, its simple control and the interesting proposal of some of their levels can entertain enough, especially to fans, who will know how to find the added value to the game.
