The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing III is a fun ARPG with plenty of nifty distractions. Nothing more, nothing less.
Toren has great style and a compelling story to tell. Though it's dragged down by its gameplay, it's still far more than worth the asking price for the experience it offers.
Space Colony is a quirky and charming package that packs focus that previous sim games lack. While it's clearly getting on in age, it's still a timeless gem in some regards, and easy to recommend to those who have not yet played it.
Son of Nor has it's moments of brilliance where its strengths are realized, but ultimately none of its best elements are developed enough to make them feel meaningful for more than a few hours. Nor isn't bad, but it's so uninteresting it can hardly claim to be good.
Gearbox has set the bar for how to update an old game for a modern audience. The slick new UI, the minor control improvements, and the updated graphics make these two strategy masterpieces into an experience even greater than the originals.
Deathtrap is a fun monster-killing, loot collecting, distraction. Unfortunately, it never goes beyond that. The lack of imagination in almost every facet holds this game from being as good as it could've been. It's still worth it's price tag, but little more.
This War of Mine is one of the most emotionally investing games I've played in years, and it doesn't need a complex set of gameplay systems to be what it is… a great game, and a deep piece of art on the horrors of war. A depiction of things so cruel and of life so horrible that you couldn't imagine these things actually happening, even if you know they do.
Valkyria Chronicles was one of the strongest RPG's released in the 2000-2010 decade, regardless of platform or origin. This PC port doesn't offer many of the options PC gamers expect, but it preserves and respects that experience. The strong story and gameplay remains intact, despite some small hiccups.
