It’s a hell of an artistic achievement.
Finally, a roleplaying game where you play a role instead of “press button, make the number go up.”
Untitled Goose Game is one of those quiet little games that come along and shake everything up, the kind of hit a major publisher would kill for.
They will make video games after this but they shouldn’t, perfection has been achieved.
Battlechasers is an RPG to kick back and enjoy.
Ultimately, The Bard’s Tale IV is a very good game, but it’s an old school launch in both senses.
Ultimately, I feel like you have to buy in. If you want to start picking plot threads or quibble about level design, you can, but I don’t think there’s a lot of value to it. Get in, loser, we’re going to find humanity.
This one’s a very niche game, but if a puzzle game that could turn into a six figure salary sounds intriguing–or if you just like dressing up cats–it beats another run through CodeAcademy.
With space combat that feels just like the 90s and some nice, new quality of life features, Rebel Galaxy Outlaw is the game your 14 your old self would’ve killed for.

If you like roguelike deckbuilders, 80s action movies, and synthwave, Nitro Kid is a banger.
I think the real appeal of Victoria 3 and the series overall is it’s very self-directed. Picking one game can result in a completely different experience. Managing the diplomacy and economy of the British Empire at its peak is absolutely insane, then during the next run, you are trying to do things like “figure out how to even have diplomatic relations” and “wtf how do i economy???” in some backwater nation you are gracing with your benevolent rulership.
I think they’ve done it. This is the classic Dwarf Fortress experience but with nice graphics, some quality of life improvements, and more robust mouse support. Strike the earth! Don’t slip on the puke!
Frogwares really really likes doing Sherlock Holmes games and there is a deep affection for the characters woven throughout.
