Not only it is possible to enjoy the new Team Ninja game for much more than its boob physics, it is recommended to look at precisely everything else: its combat system, the interesting fighting styles of its characters, its versatility when you play against other person.

Even though it is intelligently compressed, Kirby’s Extra Epic Yarn is a lesser version, or worse, or worsened, of a game that one would like to see better, or improved.

In an interview, Hideaki Itsuno said that he wanted to “make an action game in which the player can decide how to beat an enemy, and be able to take advantage of each character’s strengths to do it”. It’s that simple, and you could be playing it forever.

3 / 10 - Left Alive
Mar 11, 2019

There's a Left Alive, somewhere, that's intelligent and exciting, captivating even though its severe technical limitations. The one we've got, sadly, is clumsy, dumb, coarse and conformist.

The way Yuke’s works with a series as peculiar and unchangeable as Earth Defense Force ends with a positive balance: different and with a unique personality, Iron Rain preserves the spirit of the originals.

Miyazaki’s work is interesting for reasons that go well beyond personal taste, individual linkings or specific sales figure, and they guarantee him a place in video game history.

6 / 10 - Days Gone
Apr 24, 2019

Its ambition goes beyond the technical side —you can find a very honest type of ambition in its best moments, but there's not many of those in the game, and they are not as important as they should be.

BoxBoy! + BoxGirl! is yet another notable example of HAL Laboratory's craftmanship --a huge game made of a lot of really small ideas and mechanics.

7 / 10 - Katana Zero
Apr 28, 2019

Katana Zero is a very interesting first chapter of a bigger story that may be explored in future games —as well as its gameplay, simple yet well executed although it could be further explored in a sequel or DLC.

Team Sonic Racing is a competent and fun arcade racer, with good and well-executed ideas --it's less splendid than others in its same genre, too, and even than others in its same series.

id Software and Avalanche team up to create an open world shooter that sacrifices originality to let the excellent gunplay shine --with uneven results.

An interesting strategic shooter with a solid if a little overcomplicated design.

Like the best roguelites, when it works it's great: when you do a good run, Cadence of Hyrule makes all its pieces work together --it sounds good.

Sometimes you just need a small but interesting, relaxing but intense game that keeps you busy on a rainy weekend, and that's all. Gato Roboto is that kind of game.

8 / 10 - Judgment
Jun 19, 2019

Another fascinating entry for a series that masterfully blends the kind of drama you might expect from a soap opera with absurdist comedy and the fascinating exploration of Kamurocho, maybe the real protagonist of the Yakuza series.
