Personally, I feel that this game is damned close to being a perfect masterpiece. From start to finish I was captivated and the gunplay and combat are satisfyingly stealthy with progressive brutality which some may feel slightly overblows the emotive struggle you endure. Barring a few minuscule glitches and a feeling of being drawn out in places, The Last of Us 2 swings for the big leagues and raises the bar on every level.
With its outstanding, huge levels, compelling and stimulating multiplayer modes, and a plethora of things to unlock and discover, this is easily the most well rounded and best looking of all the Sniper Elite games to date. I finished the single-player in around 13 hours, but that was at an explorative pace on medium difficulty, so full completion should see you at around 35 hours for finding every little secret.
A very strong outing for the Zombie Army series, with an incredible eye for detail, variety in every aspect and a fresh lick of paint. This is an essential pick-up for anyone who has enjoyed any of the previous games or the Sniper Elite series.
I love what this game strives for, and I love how it plays out. Crytek excels in immersion and they have done an incredible job with Hunt: Showdown. Highly recommended if you have friends to partner up with, as server issues seem to plague it in its early days.
An amazing experience that has to be seen to be believed. The Room VR: A Dark Matter takes Fireproof Games' established escape room genre to the next level and elevates it to incredible heights of an outstanding adventure thanks to the power of VR. I completely recommend this to any VR buffs out there, there is no reason not to enjoy this game.
I was hooked from start to finish, as this over-the-top shark simulator is incredibly well rounded and feature-packed. There is nothing fishy about its shameless violence and savage humour, its polished to perfection. Trust your gut feeling and dive into this headfirst for the definitive apex predator experience!
As marble games go this has to be the best of the best. With so much variety, intricate level design, online multiplayer and weekly challenges to keep you coming back Marble it up! Ultra is hands down the best of its breed out there right now.
It's stealthy, it's gruesome, it's tactical and it's gung-ho all in one fell swoop! Trepang² has the aesthetics of Crysis, the mechanics of 00s shooters and the gory story of B-movie horror-style games with all the blood-soaked trimmings. It feels retro in its action and it has a definite "FPS-version-of-House-Of-The-Dead" vibe to it with its bosses and progressively damaged and bullet-riddled scenery.
I cannot express any more admiration for this title. It set out to provide comedic adventure action that draws inspiration from the games that the developers loved growing up. This title succeeds on every level in providing a well rounded and stellar experience that just keeps on giving.
Kayak IS an experience more than a "game". For those willing to acknowledge that this is essentially an incredibly well-made, fully fleshed-out tech demo and it's a day-one PSVR2 title with ever so slight teething character: you will have an absolute blast!
Aspyr really pulled through in making a superb package for new explorers and old adventurers to dig into, but I still have no clue why there is no platinum trophies on the PS5 edition?!
As much as I love Sniper Elite, 2016's technology is definitely letting it down in my honest opinion. Sniper Elite VR is undoubtedly an incredible experience, shoehorned into what is now last generation hardware, and though it wants so badly to show us what it's capable of, the game suffers from issues of the peripherals themselves. I have no doubt that the Oculus and Vive headsets will massively profit from enhanced resolution, field of view and refresh rates and overall deliver a far better experience on those platforms than the PSVR can currently dream of.
I have to say I'm deeply impressed with Ugly. From the lateral thinking to the graphical presentation, the clever mirror mechanics to the scale of the levels, the little bursts of humour and the intense storytelling: it's an absolute humdinger of a game for people who get a kick out of brain-melting platforming challenges!
A stunning effort in building a range of experiences, in a coherent VR world, that keeps you intrigued throughout. It's a highly polished, physics packed, rollercoaster of excitement and exploration. Highly recommended for a bit of escapism and guaranteed fun.
Enjoyably casual gameplay which draws you in an makes you want to do better each time you play.
Every inch of Paper Beast is engineered to perfection. From the sprawling mouldable environments to the diverse and unique ecosystem, everything is interactive and engaging. I had an absolute blast with this title, and I think the majority of PSVR players need to play this at least once in their lifetime.
Rocking the original BUILD engine to full effect, this love letter to the classics is more of what you always wanted but couldn't quite get growing up. It brings back all those memories and actually reinvents this style of game, better than it ever really was. The switch is a great platform for this to shine with its motion controls and docked or hand-held play schemes, and even portably, it stands up as a solid game for you to play on your travels too.
It has to be said that even as a bare-bones online military shooter, Alvo ticks all the boxes for me, and offers rewarding, realistic, ultra-fast gameplay that really puts you under the pump and forces you to think fast. The scope of possibility for Alvo is sky high and I really look forward to the next round of tweaks and additions, from a developer that seems to really listen to its community. If you're looking for an online shooter with a definite penchant for gritty action; Alvo is your game without a shadow of a doubt.
Cannon Brawl is a fantastic mix of resource management, farming and fighting. I particularly liked the frantic race to gain supplies to outgun your foes. I would normally have looked the other way with this kind of game, but I had an incredibly good time playing this and the hours just flew away whilst I was completely absorbed.
The Eternal Castle is a fantastic experience with a stunningly unapologetic appearance that evokes strong retro vibes and has a very modern feel under its hood.
