Distraint: Deluxe Edition is a short but marvelous experience. A disturbing plot, a nerve-wrecking environment, an enveloping soundtrack and a simple but straight-to-the-point gameplay, they all contribute to make Distraint on the Nintendo Switch a game that often feels more like a playable literary experience. No recommendation is emphatic enough for this gem, which unreservedly earned the right to be in the collection of every Switch player.

Where the Water Tastes Like Wine takes a bold step in trying to make a game based on a concept that is very unusual in this medium. That's something to praise but even though the game features an interesting plot and the stories are certainly worth reading, the gameplay experience does not feel adequate to what is on offer and way too often the game feels like it should have been done differently and with other mechanics.

7 / 10 - The Touryst
Dec 20, 2019

The Touryst does not make the player save the world or defeat demonic lords of darkness, quite the contrary - it's an adventure game set in a beach holiday universe and one which gets things right. With plenty of things to do, which may or may not be related to the game's quest, a beautiful background and a varied and relaxed gameplay, this is a marvelous, albeit short, adventure that is more than likely to amuse and entertain.

Alien: Isolation was not a game that many thought would find a home in the Nintendo Switch but here we are. And the result could not be more satisfying: with its horrifying sensations, heart-pounding suspense, perfectly crafted environments and a sound component that's certain to cause severe frights, Alien: Isolation on the Nintendo Switch is a marvelous piece of work that deserves every second dedicated to it.

With many customization options and a simple, accessible gameplay, this work may not offer a very in-depth experience and it can get rather confusing at times with too many things happening on the screen at the same time but fans of shoot'em-ups who enjoy a simple, action-packed game will have enough reasons to spend some time around it.

6 / 10 - EarthNight
Dec 3, 2019

EarthNight is an endless runnner that was originally made for mobile devices, which means this Switch adaptation is hardly a monument when it comes to its technical components. Nevertheless, this game has some fun moments to provide and those who enjoy the style have enough content here for some fun moments, even if the experience never reaches outstanding levels.

Tokyo Dark Remembrance doesn't get everything right. For a visual novel with point and click adventure elements, its game design and the way it flows puts a lot of limits on the player's options and its art style seems somehow mismatched from its well written plot and involving soundtrack. Nonetheless, the game has a lot of potential and very good ideas, it could have simply benefited from a better execution and design.

YIIK: A Postmodern RPG is certainly full of good intentions and it promises a lot in what it could turn out to be...nevertheless, intentions alone don't make a masterpiece and while its 1990s-tinged environment, its attempts at an innovative fighting system and a few of its musical tracks are certainly worthy of praise, the game drags itself for too long, feels frustrating and confusing too often and the experience is just too inconsistent for its own good. Something which could have turned out much better and whose potential can still be harnessed for something remarkable.

This might not be a roller coaster ride from the very beginning but once a rather cumbersome beginning is done with, every Star Wars fan will be mired in a universe of light saber duels, the Force and a majestic John Williams soundtrack. A very welcome conversion that brings an old classic to the current Nintendo Switch catalogue.

Destiny Connect: Tick-Tock Travelers can be a confusing game for fans of JRPGs. If the game has some good intentions, it ends up squandering them with its poor visuals and plot, and overload of guides and aids. While the younger target audience might enjoy it, this is not a recommended title for those taking their first steps in the JRPG genre.

There's plenty of action to keep the players around the screens and the omnipresent humour and marvelous looking visuals do wonders for the game's capital. It's true that its plot could use some reworking and its controls would improve with a bit of tweaking but Luigi's Mansion 3 is such an entertaining experience that by now, it only makes a fourth game in the series more desired.

Fell Seal: Arbiter’s Mark is a tactical RPG that may seem like it's trying to follow the footsteps of its older counterparts but that doesn't mean it's not a game with its own merits. With a stunning visual environment, a top notch audio environment and an immense variety of characters, Fell Seal is easily accessible for most players and well worthy of praise.

Sayonara Wild Hearts is a hallucinating journey through a short but intense game world that plunges the player into a neon cyberpunk aesthetic coupled with a fantastic soundtrack and delivers an effort that would be close to perfection would it not come to an end just when the experience feels like it's reaching its climax.

Puzzle Quest: The Legend Returns stands out from its RPG peers - in fact, it stands out so much it runs the risk of not being seen as an RPG but as something else, given its influence of simpler and more immediate works. None of that stands on the way of a fun experience, it must be said: with over two hundred missions, an addictive gameplay and involving soundtrack, Puzzle Quest: The Legend Returns may not be your typical RPG but that absolutely must not be used in a pejorative way, quite the contrary.
