Dragons have taken over the Earth! EarthNight is an illustrated epic 2D platformer about the dragon apocalypse, and a love letter to classic arcade games. Humans have been exiled to space, forced to live in orbit above the planet. But Sydney and Stanley have had enough! They’ve decided to skydive back to Earth, taking out as many dragons as they can along the way. Each run begins in space. You must traverse five layers of the atmosphere on the perilous journey down to Earth, alternating between skydiving and running on the backs of dragons. Your path to EarthNight will always be different and riddled with danger. - Jump and dash your way across the backs of dragons on your way down to Earth in classic 2D side-scrolling action. - Unlock more than 30 gameplay-altering power-ups that will aid you on your journey as you slay dragons and discover secrets. - Experience a unique run no matter how many times you play thanks to near-infinite variations of hand designed, procedurally generated levels.

While EarthNight looks and sounds like it could be the product of a bygone decade, the gameplay and structure are very modern

EarthNight has some novel ideas when it comes to making an auto-runner worth coming back to time and time again, but the inconsistent difficulty spikes and RNG elements can quickly put an otherwise good run into freefall.

While being quite repetitive in longer sessions, there is something quite addictive about Earth Night. Your upgrades and character improvements mean you will descend further and further towards Earth and eventually quell the dragon invasion. The movement systems and level traversal, once you get used to them, are fun and give levels a ballet-like quality. If you fancy something a bit different and something beautiful then I can definitely recommend Earth Night. It has a lot going for it.
