A rich, complex and ultimately satisfying grand strategy game, one that will keep you company for dozens upon dozens of hours while you lead your favourite medieval civilization towards victory.

The Spider of Lanka doesn't really try to change the base game's formula in the slightest but it didn't need to, either: instead it brings some quality additions to an already great game.

Boltgun is not the most original game, even among boomer shooters, but it's still plenty of fun and its relative simplicity can work to its favor more often than not. Shooting the hordes of chaos has never been this fun.

7.9 / 10.0 - BIOMUTANT
May 24, 2021

A little more variety, especially in mission design, wouldn't have hurt, but Biomutant is still a fun game and a good debut for the Experiment 101 team.

7.8 / 10.0 - Have a Nice Death
Apr 6, 2023

A 2D action roguelite that offers plenty of fun combat encounters and also boasts a truly beautiful and inspired art direction that makes every moment spent in a game a joy to watch (and play). It's not without flaws, though, especially when it comes to its pacing and progression, and while combat is generally quite fun, many of the special abilities and spells are not really well balanced, which can sometimes make you feel like you rely a bit too much on the RNG factor to have a good run.

7.7 / 10.0 - Beyond a Steel Sky
Jul 31, 2020

A good adventure game that faithfully recaptures the spirit of its predecessor while also welcoming new players with a few accessibility options and a storyline that can be appreciated even by those unfamiliar with Beneath a Steel Sky.

7.7 / 10.0 - Encased
Sep 6, 2021

It doesn't quite manage to reach Fallout's brilliance and quality, but Encased is still a fun experience, capable of providing lots of meaningful possibilities and an interesting new post-apocalyptic world to explore.

Colony Ship has flaws and is definitely not what I would call the most accessible RPG ever made. Still, suppose you have experience with the genre and like good tactical turn-based combats and plenty of exciting choices in a fascinating setting. In that case, this is definitely a game worth considering.

7.6 / 10.0 - Total War: PHARAOH
Oct 14, 2023

Pharaoh is a solid new entry in the Total War series, although it lacks some ambition. If all you wanted was some fun playing as a general in a Bronze Age setting, you'd probably be satisfied here, but if you were waiting for the next big thing, you'd have to wait a bit more.

Shadow Gambit: The Cursed CrewIn are two valuable additions to a game that was already very nice and compelling in its own right. New content that may not radically rennnounce the gameplay, but still has all the necessary ingredients to please Shadow Gambit fans, who will enjoy returning to the Caribbean in search of new adventures.

Not the best in the series but still fun and engaging, that comes with a few new gameplay modes, two civilizations and restored graphics.

7.5 / 10.0 - Hundred Days
May 10, 2021

Hundred Days is an interesting journey in the winemaking experience that is as unique as it is charming. As a management game it's not the most complex of the bunch, but it has enough depth to offer something interesting to people looking for something more than just a nice and relaxing atmosphere.

A solid tactical rpg that offers many satisfying turn-based combats and a fascinating dark fantasy re-imagining of the Arthurian myth.

7.5 / 10.0 - Floodland
Nov 14, 2022

Floodland is an intriguing city-builder that manages to be intuitive and also quite complex in its game systems, but sadly it's also filled with many technical hiccups that can slow down (and potentially halt) your progress. The foundation is solid and there is a good game beneath it all, but the game will probably need a couple of patches to really shine.

7.5 / 10.0 - Evil West
Nov 21, 2022

Evil West is not the most ambitious game of the year, but can still provide some fun thanks to its solid action gameplay and its many satisfying combat encounters with all sorts of vampires and monsters.

7.5 / 10.0 - Dread Templar
Jan 28, 2023

There have been quite a few boomer shooters in these last few years and to be honest, Dread Templar is not the best of them, falling just a tiny bit short of the likes of Dusk, Amid Evil or Prodeus, but it's still funny and entertaining, especially if you're looking for a classic FPS experience.

7.5 / 10.0 - Trepang2
Jun 22, 2023

While not without flaws, some more glaring than others, Trepang2 still offer some of the most intense and visceral combat you can find in an FPS and that is more than enough to make for a solid experience.

7.3 / 10.0 - ELEX II
Feb 28, 2022

Elex II is not without its flaws and some of them can sometimes be quite jarring, but underneath them all is a nice action RPG that gets more than a few things right and that can provide many, many hours of entertainment.

Lost Valley offers Tactical Adventures the chance to experiment on a few new systems and ideas, some of them are fine, others need more refinement, but if you wanted more of Solasta you'll find that the new DLC definitely delivers on that front.
