I found that Train Station Simulator is too limiting on what you can do in the game. If you are looking for a game that allows creative freedom, this is not it. All you are doing is placing prebuilt objects into a station. Having to set the timetable every night regardless of whatever else you are doing in the game wears thin quickly. I did enjoy my playtime with Train Station Simulator (in between squinting). It does need a far better tutorial than the one in the game at the moment. I have been told that the developer is planning to keep updating the game so we can hope the tutorial is one aspect that will be improved. If I was to buy the game I would buy it on Steam, for two reasons. It is less expensive on Steam and you might be able to read the text on a bigger screen without having to squint!

Liked-a-lot - Potion Party
Apr 8, 2021

I’ve had an entertaining time reviewing Potion Party, the game was interesting enough for my non-gaming partner to be drawn into it to want to try and play it. Though it is a relatively short game, with a group of friends you would have a great time playing it. The controls system is accessible to any age group, making Potion Party available for the younger members of the family to be able to join in.

My Universe – Cooking Star Restaurant is a decent simulation game for the age range the game is aimed at. I enjoyed my time with the game even if the mini-games ended up being rather repetitive. I think young children would have a lot of fun and get quite a bit of enjoyment with My Universe – Cooking Star Restaurant. It would be a great game to introduce a young child to the simulation genre as there isn’t anything difficult or challenging about the game!

Lost Words: Beyond the Page wouldn’t be a game for all gamers as it doesn’t pose any challenges in terms of gameplay. This is a game you would play to enjoy its story and absorb it. It would also be suitable for a parent to play with their children who are around the same age or slightly younger than Izzy herself. Lost Words: Beyond the Page is a sweet and heartwarming story. As you journey with Izzy and Grace, it is full of rich emotions which will leave you thinking about the game long after you have finished it.

Lost Lands 2: The Four Horsemen is a typical point and click, hidden object game. Nothing much different in this game to all the other many games of the same genre that are already out there. If point and click, hidden object games are your jam, then you will find what you are looking for in Lost Lands 2: The Four Horsemen.

Liked-a-lot - Wild Park Manager
Mar 25, 2021

This is the first Kairosoft simulation game I’ve played, and I had a lot of fun with it. Since I haven’t played any other games in the catalogue I can’t say if this is one of the best out of the many games they have released. However, Wild Park Manager is an enjoyable little simulation game to pass a few hours of playtime with.

Disliked - A Day Without Me
Mar 23, 2021

A Day Without Me is a weird game where you stumble around clueless with little idea of what’s happening or has happened. The issue I had with the joy-cons continually disconnecting did not help in the least or lead to an enjoyable gaming experience. At the moment with this being one of the problems with the game I can’t recommend it.

Once you do get into a pattern of making potions and completing the quests Alchemist Simulator is quite fun. I love the premise of Alchemist Simulator, who doesn’t want to be an Alchemist. However, with controls that feel like they have been lifted straight from a PC game. The tutorial doesn’t prepare the player with enough information on the ins and outs of brewing potions, which is a pity as underneath the faults the gameplay could be interesting. At the moment, the way the game is

A-Train: All Aboard! Tourism is a complex management simulation game. If you spend the time getting to know all the ins and outs of the gameplay and what is required to succeed, it’s an enjoyable and entertaining strategy game. The high price point might put some people off, though true fans of this genre will find a pretty solid management sim underneath somewhat flat visuals!

At its core, Signs of the Sojourner is a deck-building card game with elements of a visual novel. At times the card drawing feels very much like it’s luck of the draw. Like real-life conversations with others, it’s a game were failing these card encounters is a part of the experience. You can’t see everything in one playthrough or win at every conversation every time. And the narrative of the story adapts to that, leading to multiple endings. Similarly in the world of Signs of Sojourner as in real life, words and actions do have consequences!

Bob Help Them is a fun time management game for anyone to enjoy. It is not to difficult to complete and would make the ideal family game to entertain everyone. A good starting point for younger players that would like to try out the time management genre.

Loved - Sokodice
Mar 12, 2021

Sokodice is an entertaining puzzle game. With just the right amount of challenge that requires thought and a little strategy to complete the puzzles. With 100 plus puzzles to finish, Sokodice will give you plenty of dice moving, brain-twisting hours of enjoyment. It would also be a good game to play a few stages of while you are commuting to work using the portability of the Nintendo Switch.

Gravifire is an enjoyable gravity-based puzzle game. We have seen this type of puzzle mechanic of moving blocks before in other puzzle games. However, adding gravity into the puzzles gives Gravifire an extra twist. For fans of the puzzle genre, you will find an interesting and easy to control game in Gravifire for a few hours of quality playtime.

Clocker is an interesting game, though not without its faults but it does have its good points too. The artwork is beautiful as is the soundtrack. If you enjoy a time-bending puzzle game, Clocker could be your thing! Especially since it has such a reasonable price point!

Loved - Littlewood
Mar 5, 2021

Littlewood is a chilled out game, with positive vibes and a heart-warming story. The streamlined gameplay makes the game a joy to play, without the hassle of having to switch tools. Sean Young should be very proud of his little game and rightly so. For fans of this genre, Littlewood is a place you must visit. You will be warmly welcomed and live a life of peace and calm.

Liked - Wind Peaks
Mar 3, 2021

I like Wind Peaks its an acceptable hidden object game. It is however limited with its story and interactive elements in the game are mainly the items you are tasked with finding. I’ve played a few games in this genre and this one is fine for what it is. It does feel more like a prologue than a fully-fledged story, it is short on playtime and also has an abrupt ending! I feel it might be a little overpriced on the Nintendo Switch, £9.99 is somewhat high for roughly an hours worth of play. So with that in mind, my score is…

PAKO Caravan is an arcade title that is perfect for a quick pick up and play session. A laid back game that is enjoyable and recommended for all ages. The game is free to download on mobile, with a £3.99 price to remove the advertisement and a £1.99 pice to unlock all the levels. The choice is yours whether you feel the £6.29 price point on the Nintendo Switch for a free mobile game is worth it!

If you are after a challenge (without the cheat) with classic old school bombs then Dungeons & Bombs is your thing. I’d wait until the game had an update as at the moment, once you discover the cheat it takes all the enjoyment out of the game. I do hope the developers update the game soon to remove it. And…what’s with the beard?

Liked-a-lot - Healer's Quest
Feb 24, 2021

I have an entertaining time while playing Healer’s Quest, the writing has given me a laugh a few times. The gameplay is pretty solid but in shorter bursts. I don’t think Healer’s Quest is a game you could play for hours on end. At its price point of under £15 in the eShop, you certainly get your money’s worth and an enjoyable, humourous take on the RPG genre.

You won’t find the depth of territory or building development that you do in Civilization, but you will find a complete and engaging strategy game. Romance of the Three Kingdoms XIV is packed, full of different scenarios, with hours upon hours of quality strategy war gameplay. There is quite a lot of nuances to the game which I’m still learning, but if you do stick with it, I think it proves to be a very rewarding strategy game!
