Overall, I like Chroma Quaternion, there are a few things that make the game feel slightly new and updated to other KEMCO JRPG’S. I certainly appreciate the sprites have appropriate clothing requirements and aren’t half-dressed. This also makes Chroma Quaternion more accessible to younger gamers, who might want to try out their first JRPG. Chroma Quaternion has an engaging lighthearted plot, with likeable characters, and who could resist a fluffy animal companion.
Siebenstreich’s Nerdventure is a fun and enjoyable weird adventure game. The puzzles do pose a challenge but it’s the right kind of challenge, neither too difficult nor too easy. If you’re a point and click adventure connoisseur with a broad sense of humour you’ll probably find what you’re looking for in Siebenstreich’s Nerdventure.
Fate Of The Pharaoh is a perfectly enjoyable game, though without much of a challenge. The game would be a great starting ground for a young child who is interested in playing time-management games as it’s accessible to just about anyone. As for adult gamers, as long as you don’t take it too seriously then there’s no real reason you shouldn’t enjoy it.
While I do like the relaxing gameplay and music in the game, I do feel a little more colour added to the game would brighten it up a little. Compared to other games in this style or genre hexrub looks a little bland. It can also be hard to see what you are doing in the game as the camera isn’t a free-roaming as it could be. In saying that the developer should be praised for the relaxing gameplay and the sweet music to accompany it.
Sumire is a sweet, engrossing narrative adventure, that doesn’t shy away from some heavy topics. The price point in the eShop might be a little high for 3 hours of playtime, that would be my only major complaint about the game. There is some replayability to be had in the game especially if you want to complete all the challenges. I was very happy with the ending I got and couldn’t bring myself to play the game again to get a bad karma ending and complete the challenge (achievement). What can I say…I like a happy ending, who doesn’t?
Winds of Change is a lengthy visual novel with hours upon hours of playtime. At times I did feel that it was maybe a bit too long, though I think that will depend on how well you gel with the storyline. While the story is enjoyable and quite interesting, I felt that too much time is spent on managing minor friendships in the game, which feels like a filler to me. If adventure, visual novels with furries are your jam, then you will more than likely find what you are looking for in Winds of Change.
Rabisco+ is quite a cute little puzzle game, with two to three hours of gameplay. Its level of difficulty would really be down to how good your timing is as most of the obstacles are timed. For the few pounds, it costs in the eShop it would pass a few hours. Though there are better puzzle games out there for the same price!
There is plenty of stages to complete with 80 puzzles across five chapters and two different modes, there is a lot to keep you busy. As each new chapter adds unique game mechanics it keeps it fresh and interesting. Be prepared for a few hair-pulling frustrating moments. This is not an easy game, just don’t pull too hard as it hurts!
The non-violent aspects of Before We Leave won’t suit every strategy fan, especially those who enjoy a good war strategy. For those that enjoy exploration and resource management mixed with some strategic thinking, Before We Leave fits the bill! At the moment Before We Leave is a decent strategy game. With future updates to the game and the possibility for more exploring and juggling resources, this is one for strategists to keep an eye on.
Rise Eterna certainly does not reinvent the wheel. Unfortunately, this applies to the story as well as the overall gameplay, which uses genre standards rather than breaking new ground. However, if you have a hankering for an old school classic tactical RPG, then Rise Eterna could just be the game for you.
As someone who enjoys a good well thought out puzzle game, Backworlds ticks all my gaming boxes. Backworlds has intuitive controls, a great soundtrack, and is pleasant to look at and really fun to play. The puzzles are really inventive, requiring some lateral thinking without being impossibly difficult, and are never tedious. All fans of the puzzle genre should try out Backworlds, I definitely recommend it on its new home, the Nintendo Switch!
Go! Birdie is a simple, easy-going game. It would be suitable to dip in and out for short quick play sessions. There wouldn’t be much replay value in the game but for the few pounds it costs, I wouldn’t expect there to be. With its easy controls and simple gameplay, as I’ve previously mentioned, it would be a great game for young children to play.
I’d like to tell you that CyberHive is a wonderful strategy game. But I can’t say that it is, neither can I say it’s a really terrible game. What I can say is I would steer clear of CyberHive until the game receives an update as in my opinion, you won’t be getting a playable game. Yes, the game does play but only up until the point where it freezes. And like me, you will spend your playtime replaying chapter one over and over again. So I’m left with no choice but to score CyberHive as,
I think The Colonists could have done a little more as far as a tutorial was concerned. The game teaches you the basics and then just leaves you to figure out the rest on your own. That may be fine for veterans of the strategy building genre, but newcomers to the genre will need a little more help. The cute robots may make The Colonists look like a very simplistic game, but beneath the surface lies an in-depth strategy game that is a blast to play!
I found that the motion controls work surprisingly well, far better and more intuitive than I thought they would. So Kudo’s to Northplay for getting motion controls to work so well. My preferred method of controlling the game is the touchscreen, in single-player mode. Fly TOGETHER! is a very entertaining game, I would imagine with a group of friends playing the game it would be a right laugh for all involved. I’ve enjoyed my playthrough of the game and the challenge of the game in the later levels.
Castaway Paradise is a great time sink, it is very easy to spend an hour or two just mulling around the islands. Catching a few fish, pulling out some weeds or just tending to your crops. Gameplay that will appeal to most gamers, especially those that have played Animal Crossing. The Switch is a good home for the game as the portability of the switch would be great for checking in for the daily rewards in Castaway Paradise on a commute to work.
Needless to say, I haven’t finished The Longing in the two weeks I’ve had with the game, how could I when it is 400 days long! We explored the hand-drawn, large kingdom, and listened to the atmospheric soundtrack that accompanies Shade on his slow shuffle. It began as a strange game that, after I spent 20 minutes with it waiting for Shade to climb the stairs, I was ready to pack it in and never look at again. Shade and I have bonded, now I check in with him and go for a slow saunter along an undiscovered corridor, and make sure he is sitting comfortably in his chair when I leave the game. He sits in his chair reading a book, with me pressing A to turn his pages while I myself play a video game on my PC. Nothing says comfortable bonding then sitting like this side by side, no words needed. Who knows what the next few hundred days have in store for Shade and me but I think I’ll be sticking around to find out….eventually!
Buildings Have Feelings Too! is a game that is great craic to play. At times I wanted to say houl yer whisht as the buildings let their feelings be known on my placement of buildings. I thought I was doing well in my choice of the placement of buildings, the buildings thought otherwise! I have enjoyed the challenge of the game and learning what each building likes and dislikes and where it likes to be placed. A challenge that isn’t frustrating but gives just the right amount of satisfaction when you complete a task. When I next go for a saunter around the city I’m not sure I will never look up at the buildings in the same way ever again, I’ll be disappointed when they don’t say “Bout Ye Mucker” to me.
With 101 levels to complete, Graviter has lots to offer puzzle fans. It’s a game you can do in stages and would be great to occupy your mind with for an hour or so a day. Graviter has a clean art look, well-explained mechanics, and interesting puzzles. If playing with rockets, gravity and saving a kitty is your idea of a fun puzzle game then look no further than Graviter.
After quite a few hours of fun gameplay with Deiland, I think Chibig studios did a good job in building on the adventure sandbox genre. Complete with a little free roam, small aspects of roleplaying and simulation, if you liked Summer in Mara you’ll enjoy Deiland: Pocket Planet Edition. Some people will enjoy it for its sense of accomplishment. Many others will not like it due to the fact you need to wait some time for plants and trees to grow. Impatient gamers will probably not enjoy it. However, if you’re looking for a game with lots of farming, crafting, and many many quests to complete then Deiland: Pocket Planet Edition is your game. The story is interesting, it’s not the sort of game you will rush through. This is an adventure to take your time with, enjoy the chilled life that your own planet provides, and stop and smell the roses along the way.
