Critic Reviews for Chroma Quaternion
The folks at KEMCO continue to move the needle closer and closer to RPG perfection with Chroma Quaternion, a title that's fun, entertaining, and hard to pronounce. Fans of classic RPGs that have a hard time going back to the limits of the '90s will once again appreciate what this game has to offer.
Without a doubt KEMCO seems to have created its best JRPG ever in Chroma Quaternion. From start to finish it is a solid experience which never gets dull. Exploring all the eye-catching areas is a joy, the character dynamics coupled with an intriguing storyline, and easy to use, hard to master job system, makes the game's end the only true drawback.
Chroma Quaternion is a solid retro-style RPG that genre fans will enjoy, especially if you love lighthearted stories filled with delightful characters. From its clever role system to its unconventional MP-less combat, it's one unique and fun RPG adventure.
Long story short, KEMCO has, once again, published quite a unique and very enjoyable JRPG experience. While it may follow some simpler story bits, I actually appreciated its lack of over-the-top set pieces and emphasis on being laidback and easy to understand.
Overall, I like Chroma Quaternion, there are a few things that make the game feel slightly new and updated to other KEMCO JRPG’S. I certainly appreciate the sprites have appropriate clothing requirements and aren’t half-dressed. This also makes Chroma Quaternion more accessible to younger gamers, who might want to try out their first JRPG. Chroma Quaternion has an engaging lighthearted plot, with likeable characters, and who could resist a fluffy animal companion.
Chroma Quaternion makes great strides in refreshing some of the team’s most tired tropes, but it still falls short of matching the best they have to offer.
