90 / 100 - Dave the Diver
Jan 1, 2024

The combination of genres in DAVE THE DIVER is as unexpected as it is effective. One part of the game consists of the management and administration of a small sushi restaurant and the other part will be focused on diving in a giant and quite deep pit to obtain the fish that will later be cooked and sold in the restaurant. The premise seems simple but hours of fun await us and we will be given the option to delve into its gameplay as much as we want. DAVE THE DIVER is one of the most interesting indies of the year and you have to try it without hesitation.

Bomb Rush Cyberfunk is a spiritual sequel to Jet Set Radio and makes it clear from the first moment. They have managed to achieve all the defining elements of the Sega title, the aesthetics, the music, in a certain way the playability, although it is a little missed that they have taken a little more risk with the game. In short, Bomb Rush Cyberfunk is a totally recommendable game, both for those who enjoyed Jet Set Radio in their day and for the general public, the game has a lot of flow and very good vibes.

78 / 100 - Risen
Dec 18, 2023

Risen stands out as an action RPG with a strong narrative focus, meaningful decisions, and a diverse world to explore. Although this new version has not received changes from the 2009 original, its attractive design, complexity in decisions and gameplay continue to offer an immersive and recommended experience for current players. In 2009 it went quite unnoticed, now we have the opportunity to remedy it.

Irem Collection Volume 1 is the first volume of five classics from the Japanese company Irem. This first compilation includes three shoot 'em ups of unquestionable quality such as Image Fight and its sequel, Image Fight II: Operation Deepstriker, and X Multiply. The presentation and options included in the compilation are quite good, although a few more extras such as galleries or documentation of the games may be missing to give it more packaging, but in general we are faced with a solid product. It is a shame that this volume only includes three titles and no more, even so, those interested in Irem - and lovers of shoot 'em ups - have a must-see date with this compilation.

Gothic II Complete Classic is the definitive version of the acclaimed western RPG Gothic II for Nintendo Switch. Following the structure of the first game in terms of narrative and development, Piranha Bytes offers us a much more satisfactory work that enhances the virtues of the previous game. Despite the mastery achieved in some sections, Gothic II is not free of flaws and elements that could be improved, although despite them, the Piranha Bytes game is still considered one of the greats of its genre.

Jurassic Park Classic Games Collection is a very interesting compilation for Jurassic Park fans. It recovers the first games that accompanied Steven Spielberg's film and its fictional sequels, forming a compilation of 8 and 16-bit games in which a couple more games are missing. The quality of life improvements are appreciated and are great for some of the games. If you like what surrounds the Jurassic Park phenomenon, and you want to know the first titles with which the franchise started in the world of video games, don't miss it.

70 / 100 - VISCO Collection
Nov 28, 2023

VISCO Collection is a compilation of 7 games that focuses on Visco Corporation titles that came out for the Neo Geo system, ignoring the two Breakers and games licensed by third parties. Although the Japanese company has other great titles that are not in this compilation as they are developed for other Arcade systems or boards, the titles included comply with what is proposed and several of them have received online multiplayer functions. VISCO Collection is a good approximation to the games that the Japanese company made for Neo Geo and deserves our attention.

ASTLIBRA Revision is a side-action RPG developed by KEIZO, a single developer for a whopping 14 years. The game is quite dense both in terms of story and playable mechanics, and against all odds the result is outstanding, everything ends up working and fitting together perfectly and as soon as we let ourselves get caught up, we will have many hours of fun. This is a hidden gem that deserves much more recognition and is a must-have for lovers of the genre.

65 / 100 - Gothic
Nov 20, 2023

Gothic Classic is a slightly improved version of the 2001 Piranha Bytes classic Gothic. This is a Western open-world action RPG that stands out for its focus on exploration, non-linear narrative, and its fairly well-constructed dark fantasy open world. This version for Nintendo Switch has received some improvements such as a new controller control scheme, motion control, certain interface redesigns, some playable adjustments, but the base is still a 2001 game that technically has not aged well at all. It is up to the player to evaluate this title as an essential classic or as a game that is not recommended and difficult to play.

70 / 100 - Air Twister
Nov 6, 2023

Air Twister is the new title from Yu Suzuki and his studio YS.NET, a rail shooter spiritual successor to Suzuki's famous Space Harrier with Sega. A very bizarre game awaits us with many dissonant elements that may surprise us or take us out of place, but when the action starts is when we will see that everything works and we will let ourselves go. The game is fun and easy to play, Yu Suziki doesn't seem to have lost his touch, and if you like this type of game, you are going to enjoy it.

90 / 100 - Jusant
Oct 31, 2023

Jusant demonstrates why Don't Nod should focus on these titles. We have a puzzle game where the master mechanic is climbing and the driving engine is an environmental narrative that will push us to continue climbing, this combination is the work of crazy people or geniuses, and we are more inclined towards the latter. If its curious and interesting proposal appeals to you, don't let it escape, it is one of those games that we will still be talking about in 10 years.

92 / 100 - Ghostrunner 2
Oct 23, 2023

Ghostrunner 2 can be called a frenetic first-person action platformer like its first installment, which takes the best of it and enhances it with new playable possibilities and some very interesting new features such as the inclusion of the motorcycle. It is possible that the playable core is continuous with respect to the previous game, but it is not a negative thing when the first game was already outstanding. If you liked Ghostrunner, this sequel is a must, and if you haven't played the first one, you no longer have an excuse to pick up both.

FRONT MISSION 2: Remake brings us back another Squaresoft classic for the first PlayStation that did not leave Japan at the time. The remake comes with the same new features as the remake of the first installment that was released last year and offers us a new story following the adult and gray tone of the previous title. We will return to pilot a fully customizable Wanzer while we choose the best strategy to survive the countless combats that await us. Fans of tactical RPGs should not miss it.

Telenet Shooting Collection is a compilation with four classic shoot 'em ups not very well known in the West but not lacking in quality. The four titles - Granada, Avenger, Gaiares and Psychic Storm - are unreleased in Europe and two of them did not even leave Japan. This is a highly recommended compilation for fans of the matamartianos genre and without a doubt the perfect opportunity to get to know these titles in the best possible way and with the corresponding accessibility improvements.

Infinity Strash: DRAGON QUEST The Adventure of Dai is a light action RPG that, despite having Dragon Quest in the title, focuses on the anime and manga of the same name and has nothing to do with the main game series or its spin-offs. -more well-known offs -beyond the common elements of the franchise such as its bestiary-. An adventure awaits us where we will follow approximately a third of the anime with certain pacing problems due to its strange structure of telling the story and we may also be affected by its too simple combat that only shines before the bosses. Despite all this, and perhaps because of the weight of nostalgia, Infinity Strash is a game that we are going to recommend, especially for manga and anime fans.

The Legend of Nayuta: Boundless Trails is a very interesting and fun action RPG. It may not be at the levels of the other titles with which it shares the series -Trails- or the ones it is most similar to -Ys and Zwei-, but it is still a good title in the Nihon Falcon catalog that can be played with more simplicity than usual but with the good work of the Japanese company's titles. Recovering titles like this for the West is appreciated.

With Rhapsody: Marl Kingdom Chronicles we have the perfect opportunity to play the second and third installments of the Rhapsody saga for the first time in the West and in English. It is true that this compilation has a very basic extra work - purely visual and localization - and that the opportunity to have compiled the Rhapsody trilogy including the first part has been lost, but even so we have ahead of us two JRPGs of a certain simplicity and more "cute" that deep, but that will entertain and surprise us with a staging in the form of a musical.

Samba de Amigo: Party Central marks the return of Sega's rhythm music franchise. Amigo is back, the Brazilian monkey who with his maracas must get the best score in the 42 songs available in principle - more via DLC -. Sega offers us a very good musical rhythm game that, thanks to its festive appearance, is also ideal as a party game. You have to adapt a little to motion control and the tracklist may be less Latin than in previous installments but this does not prevent Amigo from returning in style.

TAITO Milestones 2 presents us with ten other classic Taito titles released for Arcade in the 80s and early 90s. The selection is debatable although not bad - that Dinorex... -, and the extras in the compilation are conspicuous by their absence such as in the first installment -beyond the configuration options for each game, the option to save status and the online rankings-. In any case, these types of products dedicated to the preservation of the classics are appreciated, although they could be pampered a little more.

Trine 5: A Clockwork Conspiracy is the biggest installment in the franchise to date. Although the game is quite continuous with respect to the previous installment, the new abilities of our protagonists and the new puzzles and elements will delight fans of the Frozenbyte franchise. Also audiovisually the game is a delight like its predecessors. Some might think that few risks have been taken and that being a continuist is something negative, but four years have passed since the previous installment, so this Trine does not run the risk of embarrassing the user. Travel without fear to the beautiful world of Trine, fun is guaranteed.
