10 Second Ninja X is a great pick up and play game. It would also be a fun game to aim to master, similar to Super Meat Boy. With it launching on Switch, when is a better time to check this out than out, on the go, while you’re waiting for your coffee, or stuck on a bus? The pacing of the game works well for quick play sessions.
Boyfriend Dungeon was far more enjoyable than expected. Sure, every character you meet may want to hop into bed with you in an absurdely thirsty way. There could have been a bit more variety in terms of enemies and areas, with me being hopeful that a potential sequel might fix these issues.
Save for some small changes to each of the individual game modes, it’s obvious that most the effort in Vanguard went into multiplayer, which makes sense. Zombies has been brushed almost entirely to the wayside, and while the campaign is fairly lengthy and has a story that actually makes sense, not involving brainwashing, it’s a big win for Call of Duty this year. The hope now is that the season updates, new maps, and hopefully some new Zombies content, can help to fully flesh the game out effectively.
In the grand scheme of things, Dadish 2 could have very easily been a DLC pack for the first game, but given its cheap price, it’s absolutely justifiable to pick up this sequel game if you’ve enjoyed the original. Sure, it’s pretty much just more levels on the same engine, but that’s not entirely bad. It’s a good time if Dadish was your thing.
Unbound: Worlds Apart is an adorably charming indie game that really shows the strength of Alien Pixel Studios’ craft. Throughout the 6+ hours I spent with it, I’ve encounter various puzzles, a bunch of sneaky enemies I couldn’t fight back against, and even some bosses I had to survive in order to solve the problems that face the world. A total package, Unbound: Worlds Apart is an absolutely adorable indie title. It hits the ground running and doesn’t stop from beginning to end.
Revita is a great indie roguelite, dungeon crawler that can genuinely hit the same levels that something like Exit the Gungeon can provide. If its developer can continue to provide players with content and updates here and there for the game, then all it takes is a little bit of word of mouth to get Revita flying the way it should. This base game is definitely a great starting point, and with so much to do in every run, and so much to collect, it’s a nifty little title that people will stick with if they know there will be more to come.
Do not be fooled by the source material. My Little Pony: A Maretime Bay Adventure may have been a pretty simple play and completion for an adult whose life is essentially playing video games, but it was still enjoyable. The lessons taught in the game are key and really important for a younger demographic, and it does look great as a whole. This should definitely be a pickup for most kids, and some adults should consider adding this to their library as well. If nothing else, it’s a pretty easy achievement/trophy list without ever feeling completely condescending, so why not?
The Serpent Rogue is a fun experience the whole way through, a slow burn that’s well worth your time.
Dadish 3 genuinely is just more Dadish. And let me be clear, that is not a bad thing. On the contrary: it’s excellent. If you were a fan of the first two games, this one just continues to expand on their solid foundations, adding more challenging levels and puzzles to the mix. I’m willing to bet I’ve had more deaths in Dadish 3 than Dadish and Dadish 2 combined.
Modern Warfare 2 is the strongest release from the series in quite a while, possibly since Modern Warfare, maybe even longer than that. There are some missing features though: the battle pass won’t launch until nearer the end of November, while hardcore playlists don’t exist. The multiplayer maps are decent enough, but nothing overly spectacular, but at least the multiplayer feels mostly balanced. The campaign was a great experience, with a small visual glitch here and there.
I didn’t realise going into The Captain that it was a point-and-click adventure. I may have passed up on it had I known. Instead, I found what may arguably be one of the best and most unique games I have played in the genre. I do believe anyone who feels indifferent to this style of game should give it a shot, because it may be the one to change how you feel towards them. That, or if you just like tactical games, the battles can be a lot of fun, but there’s significantly less of those.
With some good DLC, Have A Nice Death will be the next big indie roguelike people talk about with the same love and respect that Dead Cells or Hades get.
Overall, I have really enjoyed my experience with WrestleQuest. There are a lot of great influences that this game takes from that work well and blend smoothly together. The gameplay is fun, the art style is adorable, and there’s a lot of zany fun to be had with it. Hopefully, with the small delay that the game had, plenty of people will still give this game a chance, because it’s worth it.
I would highly recommend checking out Flooded if you’ve wanted to give RTS games a chance, but find the whole thing overwhelming when you need to build cities or bases, build armies, defend yourself, attack others, and more at the same time. It’s a bit more of a relaxing pace, but can also get quite stressful as you get further and further through time.
Overall, Sker Ritual was a lot more of what I wanted and way more than I could have expected from it. Is this going to be a Call of Duty: Zombies killer? Maybe not as of now, but it’s clearly a really good step in the right direction, as that series simply doesn’t care about having to improve anymore. Even though it’s completely different from its predecessor, Sker Ritual is a pleasant surprise, a well-polished game, and something I definitely plan to continue returning to often, especially if there are any big content updates in the future.
It’s a faithful rendition of the hit series, translated properly in arcade format with a few twists of its own. It boasts good graphics, excellent voice acting, easy controls, and most importantly, couch co-op.
Between memorable characters, dialogue options that will make you seriously think, and intricate battle systems, Fallen Legion Revenants is a great start of the year for fans of JRPGs and single player experiences in general.
All in all, it’s a fun little diversion where you can pay off your debts while beating up some vegetarians along the way.
If you liked Spelunky, welcome to Spelunky 2: “Spelunking With Friends”. The game feels the same, plays the same, and is basically the same. Save for a handful of quality of life changes that, for the avid Spelunky fan, may be great, especially if you’re interested in tackling these dungeons with friends.
As a whole, Sheepo is quite short and simple, but very sweet. This game is a lot of fun, and if you’re after achievements, going for the “no death” speed runs can be challenging, but very welcome, given how enjoyable this game’s overall loop is. While it might not be the most traditional metroidvania game, it’s one that’s absolutely worth taking a look at if you’re looking for something you can knock out in one session.
