Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity is not exactly the kind of Zelda we're used to, but it is the game that all fans of the series needed, especially for filling gaps left by Breath of the Wild. In addition, it is easily one of the best titles available on the Nintendo Switch. The punctual performance problems that the game has do not overshadow its brilliance and, certainly, its success will leave a legacy for the main franchise.

Catherine: Full Body is about the two extremes of adult life: commitment or freedom. The story may seem to have some holes or badly developed characters, but this is not a flaw, because the intention of the game is to become a metaphor using precisely this context of indecision and questioning that the protagonist lives. With beautiful visuals and renewed gameplay, the remastering can please both those who have tried the original title and those who will play it for the first time.

The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom is more than just a new title in the franchise; it's a rebirth of the series in many ways. The innovative gameplay, the inclusion of Zelda as the protagonist and the return to dungeons show that the traditional formula still has a lot to offer.

9.5 / 10.0 - Metroid Dread
Nov 5, 2021

Metroid Dread honors the legacy of the franchise, but it doesn't deliver everything the series is capable of offering. Despite being an excellent Nintendo Switch game, with an incredible combat system and memorable battles against relentless bosses, the stealth sessions with the EMMI become repetitive over time and the uninspired setting of the planet ZDR make Samus Aran's new adventure leave a taste of wasted potential at times.

Few Switch games can offer an intense yet satisfying portable experience like Tony Hawk Pro Skater 1 + 2. The title is definitely one of those skateboarding games that is made to be played anywhere in the world, whether on your TV at home or in a mall food court. Although the sacrifices required for the port to exist on the hybrid console are quite notable, those in no way sacrifice the soul of the game — which has remained young and radical from the 1990s to the present day.

9 / 10.0 - Rivals of Aether
Oct 6, 2020

Rivals of Aether: Definitive Edition is worth every penny for bringing new game modes, all DLCs and several important tweaks to the gameplay. Along with that, the Switch port is an excellent portable multiplayer - quality that is priceless.

9 / 10.0 - Pikmin 3 Deluxe
Nov 12, 2020

With new content, improved graphics and refined gameplay, Pikmin 3 Deluxe is indeed a deluxe version of the original game. After all, it is one of the most beautiful titles on the Switch, even though the visual improvements are not so noticeable. Cooperative multiplayer is an excellent reason for veteran players to visit PNF-404 on remastering, but the lack of online resources shows that Nintendo still needs to evolve a lot to enhance its subscription service.

Doom Eternal is a 2020 treasure that will be remembered for a long time as the best FPS of recent years. Although the title oozes quality, it is not for everyone due to the intense gameplay and the high difficulty that may not suit all tastes. The Switch port is satisfactory enough to recommend to those who have never had contact with the series, but those who already have the game on other platforms will probably feel little inclined to play it again.

8.5 / 10.0 - Sniper Elite 4
Dec 12, 2020

Sniper Elite 4 is a title that will appeal to both casual players and fans of the genre, especially those who prefer stealth. The Switch port has some visual problems that take away some of the charm, but the gameplay experience is good. The game is not a Triple A, but it achieves the same quality as one.

8.5 / 10.0 - Unsighted
Sep 30, 2021

Unsighted is certainly one of the best games of this year, both for its visual presentation and its refined mechanics. However, a hint of wasted potential can be felt when faced with the amount of elements available in its gameplay that were underutilized, in addition to a narrative that does not develop as well as it could. Still, the title is a great adventure that deserves to receive a sequel.

Amid mistakes and successes, Samurai Jack: Battle Through Time is a solid adventure that manages to translate the essence of the animated series in a way never seen before in video games. The dated level design does not overshadow the great work done by Soleil together with Adult Swim. The diversified combat system and art elements make the title more than recommended for fans of the character and for those who enjoy action games.

For lovers of the anime, Captain Tsubasa: Rise of New Champions is a dream come true, despite the technical problems it has. However, it can cause frustration in anyone looking for a more traditional soccer experience. If you see the gameplay present in this title as a choice, it is certainly a game that will be worthwhile.

No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle has features that make it unique, but the various elements of its narrative are dated and may not appeal to all players. Its arcade proposal matches very well with the portability of the Switch, along with that, the renewed graphics and motion controls make the port for the hybrid the ultimate experience, which makes the Nintendo Wii version obsolete.

7.5 / 10.0 - Spacejacked
Aug 1, 2020

Despite its simplicity, Spacejacked is an impressive and charismatic tower defense. Using different elements, from 2D platform to strategy, developer Rotten Mage managed to give personality to the game. Its high level of difficulty makes it a difficult title to recommend to everyone, but if you are a fan of frantic arcades, it will certainly be a worthwhile experience.

Oceanhorn 2: Knights of the Lost Realm bets all its chips on looking like The Legend Zelda, but fails to execute mandatory mechanics of the genre, such as locking the camera. The simple storyline and neat setting provide a fun experience for hardcore fans of Ocarina of Time and The Wind Waker, but the poor combat system and lack of polish make it a title that is hardly recommended for all players.

7.5 / 10.0 - The Plucky Squire
Sep 22, 2024

Even with hiccups, The Plucky Squire still offers an engaging experience. The positives outweigh the flaws, especially if you value an adventure full of creativity, nostalgia and innovation. However, for those who prioritize performance, it may be more interesting to try the game on another platform, where transitions and gameplay flow more smoothly. Ultimately, it's an adventure worth living — but perhaps under more stable conditions.

7 / 10.0 - Castle Pals

Castle Pals is not a must play in the Nintendo Switch library, but it is a game worth trying if you are interested in simple platform titles.

The Ambassador: Fractured Timelines tries to be a different game with creative mechanics and well-crafted visuals, but the lack of variety in gameplay and level design problems make it mediocre. Perhaps if tinyDino Games had dedicated a little more time to devise different battle mechanics, the title would deserve a stronger recommendation.

With very charming and well-crafted sprites, SAMURAI SHODOWN! 2 leaves Neo Geo Pocket in the past and officially returns to the arena. But the lack of online resources and limitations in the game itself give little reason for anyone who is not an enthusiast to acquire the relaunch. If you are curious about old video games or a fan of the franchise, the title may be interestin. But if not, it may be a game of little benefit.

7 / 10.0 - Inertial Drift
Sep 8, 2020

Inertial Drift can provide a fun experience for the player, but it takes a little effort to understand the gameplay and the drift mechanics present in the game. The vaporwave aesthetics can captivate the interest of the players, but the various technical flaws cancel out the charm that the title has, making it interesting for few players or, perhaps, for the most enthusiastic about experimental games.
