Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment delivers exactly what hardcore Zelda and Musou fans expected: a narrative that fills in gaps from Tears of the Kingdom, refined mechanics, plenty of variety, and a visual and auditory spectacle worthy of the Zelda universe. If you're interested in seeing a behind-the-scenes look at the war that shaped Hyrule, this game is a must-play. However, there are caveats: although the gameplay has evolved considerably, the Musou formula remains at its core—hordes of enemies, repetitive tasks, delivery missions—and the co-op mode has performance issues that can compromise the experience.

The impression VARLET gives is that the team had ambitions that they couldn't fit within the scope of the project, whether due to budget or time constraints. This results in irrelevant mechanics, a lack of challenge, and a mediocre story. It's a game with a very nice character design, a competent soundtrack—I really liked the music during a certain boss fight—and character development that positively surprised me. It's a game that will appeal to fans of titles from AQURIA or FuRyu; if you're not a fan, I recommend waiting for a sale: you'll find better games for a fraction of the price.

Reimagined to better present themselves both as part of the Erdrick trilogy and as a modern experience, DRAGON QUEST I & II HD-2D Remake is a high-quality collection. Both of the comparatively simpler RPGs in the franchise have been given new touches that make this version a great choice for both long-time fans and those who are not yet very familiar with the genre and would like to experience these classics.

Persona 3 Reload is a triumphant return of a classic that defined generations. It masterfully balances the everyday with the supernatural, delivering an emotional, stylish, and meaningful experience. Even with issues of repetitive exploration, the game remains one of the best examples of how an RPG can combine strategy, narrative, and visual identity in such a unique way. Ultimately, it's an invitation to look within and discover that, like its characters, we all have a bit of light and shadow, and it's up to us to decide what to do with it.

BALL x PIT is enchanting primarily for its originality; mixing genres is always a risky decision in the gaming world, but Kenny Sun and Devolver Digital have proven with their work that shooting spheres and breaking blocks can be extremely addictive and engaging, as well as a mesmerizing experience when all the pieces fit together. In the end, even the game's problems regarding grinding and repetitiveness aren't enough to prevent it from being highly recommended.

Earthion delivers on its promise, delivering a true modern classic that manages to engage and entertain despite its obvious nostalgic appeal. Ultimately, fans of 16-bit games will feel right at home with this release, but newcomers and curious gamers will also find enjoyment here. In short, it's worth traveling back in time and saving the planet like we did back in the 1990s.

Pokémon Legends: Z-A successfully balances the mechanics that worked in its predecessor, incorporates other essential aspects of the main series, and presents a highly entertaining adventure alongside the pocket monsters through Lumiose City. The title isn't perfect, of course, but with an innovative combat system and such a well-represented exploration of human-Pokémon interactions, it's impossible not to see Legends: Z-A as a major step in the right direction for the franchise. Now, the expectation is that the next generation of games in the main series will follow the same path of creativity and exploration seen here.

Shujinkou is one of the most pleasant surprises of the year, teaching a beautiful language without seeming like a product that's only meant to be educational, delivering a rich plot, beautiful visuals, well-done soundtrack and charismatic characters.

If it once seemed like Yooka-Laylee was trying too hard to be a new Banjo-Kazooie, now it seems the title has finally embraced its own identity. Ultimately, Yooka-Replaylee does what it sets out to do, reimagining the original adventure without losing its essence. Whether the new version of the title puts it on par with its predecessors remains to be seen; but I believe the future may hold good new adventures starring the chameleon and the bat, based on the mistakes corrected and the lessons learned from the remake.

Honestly, Battle Suit Aces quickly became one of my favorite games of 2025. Driven by the charisma of its characters, this space journey proves that the combination of cards, mechs, and RPGs was a successful one, resulting in a fun and addictive game that, for both its virtual interactions and strategic combat, deserves to be experienced on the Switch. In the end, then, the conclusion is clear: it's worth heeding the Second Voice's call and embarking on this intergalactic adventure in search of the Relic Suits.

Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles reasserts why this Square title is a landmark not only for the Final Fantasy franchise, but also the tactical RPG history. With an incredible political narrative, complex characters and a deeply customizable class system, the game is a true example of how to have mechanical depth and narrative density in perfect harmony.

In sum, Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter is more than a game; it's a carefully constructed foundation of one of the most detailed RPGs we have on current days. This remake offers the best way to experience the beginning of the saga. Its visual issues are small stains in a masterpiece painting, easily overcome by the strength of its narrative core. It's an experience to savour, not devour, and a must-play introduction to one of the most beloved interconnected series in the genre.

Atelier Resleriana: The Red Alchemist & the White Guardian competently delivers much of the essence that fans of the series have come to expect: exploration in search of raw materials, rich and rewarding synthesis, charismatic characters, and a fun and strategic combat system. Although some plot moments drag on unnecessarily and the pace of progression is constantly interrupted by a shallow management system, the overall balance is still quite positive. Overall, the title offers an engaging and fun RPG experience, worth checking out for franchise enthusiasts and those who enjoy the genre.

PAC-MAN WORLD 2 Re-PAC is a complete package and an enhanced version of an already great title: revamped visuals, new level additions, reimagined bosses, a main hub with more activities, and even a new multiplayer mode. Of course, some drawbacks from the original World 2 still remain, such as the camera, which can be unpredictable, and the short length of the adventure—those who don't want to search for all the collectibles scattered throughout the levels or complete all the missions can finish the game in a few hours. Ultimately, the remake demonstrates the developers' special affection for the adventure and the character, bringing back one of the most acclaimed titles in the Pac-Man World franchise. There's a good balance between the (many) new features and the original content, and now we can't wait for the trilogy to be complete, when Pac-Man World 3 will surely receive the same treatment.

Hades II expands on its formula without losing what made the original so memorable. The new protagonist, magical abilities, weapon variety, and alternative routes make each playthrough different, while combat remains fast, responsive, and addictive. Even with moments of grinding and repetition, the game makes up for it with rich systems, freedom of choice, and progression that keeps us motivated to try again. With a stunning setting, captivating characters, and solid technical performance, the title reaffirms Supergiant's position as one of the most creative studios in the industry. Hades II not only honors the legacy of its predecessor but boldly expands upon it. For fans of the genre and those who enjoyed the first game, the recommendation is clear: this is an essential and unforgettable experience.
