7.5 / 10.0 - Viewfinder
Nov 26, 2025

Viewfinder and its distinctive gameplay make it an excellent puzzle game for those unfamiliar with the genre and wishing to venture into these types of games. Traveling through the various interconnected photographs never gets old. Its pace of solutions is enjoyable, and the short campaign length, around four to five hours, works well. This way, dealing with dozens of unnecessary short sessions doesn't become tiresome, but the player also avoids situations with few challenges that are too difficult and could trap them in the same level for hours. It's clear that these concepts could be revisited in future projects that might be even more interesting, and I hope that will be the case.

7 / 10.0 - Winter Burrow
Nov 25, 2025

The journey through Winter Burrow is enjoyable and, without a doubt, the highlight of the game. Its gentle difficulty can be a good introduction for those interested in survival games, but who would like something less complicated and playable in short sessions. Even with minor gameplay flaws and limited use of its own mechanics, the nostalgic and charming visuals of the characters help the player become attached to this small world lost in the snow.

Windswept does a great job delivering a fun 2D platformer that isn't afraid to declare its love for the games that inspired it, while also not succumbing to mere nostalgia.

8 / 10.0 - Call of the Sea
Sep 23, 2025

Call of the Sea isn't a long game, helping to create a satisfying sense of adventure. Even with a strange variation in puzzle difficulty, it doesn't leave the player bored or frustrated. The island's design and the ingenuity of the mechanics are inviting and rewarding. The soundtrack is subtle, only appearing at a few key points in the story, but it's essential for creating the desired atmosphere and immersing the player in this universe. Its adaptation of the Lovecraftian style into a story of love, investigation, and unexplained situations makes it worth the journey.

Shinobi: Art of Vengeance manages to recapture the franchise's signature style while applying modern, fluid gameplay that highlights Musashi as an unstoppable warrior. The story is a classic revenge arc that serves its purpose by imbuing the confrontations with a sense of urgency and violence. The pace of the fights, both against regular enemies and bosses, is addictive and keeps you playing without even noticing the time passing. It's an essential experience for Shinobi fans, as it honors the series' legacy and once again opens the door for Joe Musashi to stand out among SEGA's greatest modern franchises for a new audience.

8 / 10.0 - Herdling
Aug 21, 2025

Herdling puts the player on the role of a guide for mysterious beings that are on the border of fantasy and arouses curiosity in knowing up to which point the protagonist is before something real and whether they understand the weight of their role. However, in the end, the developers managed to make it so that the player wishes to reach the end for the sake of the calicorns.

8 / 10.0 - Shadow Labyrinth
Jul 24, 2025

Debuting a good Metroidvania isn't easy, and Shadow Labyrinth succeeded. Overall, I consider my experience with the game to be good, and I see room for further improvement in several ideas. Furthermore, the protagonist's unique identity could prevent the title from falling into oblivion. Puck is as interesting as the universe in which this story takes place. Running through labyrinths chasing ghosts became even more dangerous in Shadow Labyrinth, which didn't fully deliver, but could be the beginning of a new series that will add a lot to the Metroidvania scene.

Patapon 1+2 Replay is a collection with a clear goal: introducing the games to new audiences, especially on the Switch and PC, where they are debuting for the first time. While this is great for attracting fresh players, it feels like a missed opportunity to introduce more improvements that could have appealed to long-time fans, offering a more enhanced experience. The focus on preserving the original experience even led to the absence of a pause option, just like the original PSP versions. Nevertheless, the collection delivers what it promises, bringing nearly two-decade-old games to modern platforms and potentially sparking interest in a new generation of players to explore the journey to Earthend.

In a genre in which the games are looking ever more generic, Lost in Random: The Eternal Die manages to show its own qualities as a roguelite with charismatic characters and addicting combat mechanics. Beyond that, the way the premise fits the map randomization format and rewards is very satisfying.

9 / 10.0 - Everdeep Aurora
Jul 14, 2025

There's a lot to learn about the world of Everdeep Aurora. Each new road we explore in these underground tunnels have discoveries that may even influence the various endings of the game. The good side is that it's not necessary to play the whole campaign again to see what every ending holds. It's a pacific metroidvania that does its job well in presenting captivating characters in 16 bits and a mystery as deep as Everdeep itself.

There's big potential in Rooftops & Alleys: The Parkour Game that, unfortunately, was not reached due to certain limitations from the game's concept. [...] Even so, I had fun with my initial blunders and with learning the leaps and pirouette sequences that the game has to offer in its combinations. Photo Mode is a welcome extra and it's possible to feel that the base for a great sequel is already done.
