Marc-Antoine Bergeron Cote's Reviews

Passionate about technology, music, video games, cinema and sports, I graduated in communication. Since 2014, I have had the opportunity to write for many sites such as Game-Focus, the Legendary Sword and even today at Geeks and Com '. I have also hosted several shows on the web, whether podcasts and live broadcasts, particularly on Gaming Live, the former Jeuxvideo.com Web-TV. I continue to explore my passion for video by having a YouTube channel known as HypnoticMarc.

Forza Horizon 5: Hot Wheels is especially aimed at those who have already logged many hours on the title and want additional content. Fans of the famous small car brand will be happy to find some of the iconic models and drive them. Nevertheless, the missions offered are quite repetitive, even if the progression system is well implemented. I would have preferred to have more varied missions while the environments of this new playground are. Not to mention that the vast majority of the cars can be picked up without even accessing the DLC and are not really customizable. Still, I had a lot of fun returning to the title for a few hours. I felt like I was back in childhood again with my little cars.

PowerWash Simulator is a very accomplished game despite its rather limited concept. The handling is easy to take in hand and the cooperative mode adds a bit of fun. The content is quite imposing and this is sometimes a flaw. Many missions will take more than an hour to complete. For me, the title is a relaxing game that can be played in small doses here and there. If content updates are planned, I would have liked to go a little further in the concept with why not much more powerful tools. If you're a fan of this kind of game, you'll clearly enjoy cleaning everything. For the neophytes, the game quickly becomes repetitive despite the diversity of places to clean.

8 / 10.0 - F1 22
Jul 15, 2022

Despite some promises from the Codemasters team, F1 22 seems to suffer from the same problems as the other games published by EA Sports. The game brings a little more immersion with supercars for example, but these are really anecdotal. Once again, some of the F2 championship data is not yet up to date and you'll have to be patient. Not to mention the technical problems that are much more present than before. Fortunately, the driving sensations remain the same with an improved artificial intelligence. We should not forget the numerous accessibility options to have fun, no matter what your level is. There is also virtual reality compatibility, which offers the ultimate experience for owners of this type of device. Visually, the title is also well done. If you own last year's edition, you shouldn't really expect any big changes. Translated with www.DeepL.com/Translator (free version)

7.5 / 10.0 - The Quarry
Jun 22, 2022

The Quarry is clearly on a par with Until Dawn and reassures me after the disappointments I felt with the last games from Supermassive Games. The atmosphere is well integrated, the visual aspect is even nicer and the scenario as a whole remains interesting even if the last scenes seem a bit rushed. After talking to some of you on social networks, there are several endings available and the choices seem to have a real impact on many dialogues and cinematics. The cooperative mode also allows you to play with people who are perhaps a little less used to video games. However, it is important to remember that the in-game stages are rather anecdotal, that there are several inconsistencies in the storyline, that the game is sold at full price for a rather average lifespan and that it is rather frustrating to have no improvement to redo the story once again.

6.5 / 10.0 - Evil Dead: The Game
May 25, 2022

Evil Dead: The Game offers a mixture of nostalgia and disappointment for fans of the franchise. On the one hand, there are countless references to the original films and the series, with highly recognizable settings, the voices of the actors from the series and an art direction that follows the same codes. On the other hand, we have a title that looks very similar to other games on the market, a progression system that is practically useless, a horrific atmosphere that disappears quickly, an obligation to play with friends to really enjoy the game and a mandatory internet connection even for solo missions. So, unfortunately, I can't recommend the title, unless you are a VERY big fan of the license and have several friends to play with. Fortunately, the title offers a shared progression system between platforms, but also cross-play. Hopefully, you won't go around in circles too soon!

Dinosaur Fossil Hunter had a huge playground at its disposal, but the developers at Pyramid Games studio seem to have run out of steam. While the basic gameplay is not totally bad and could be improved via future updates, the functionality to skip some of the important steps of playing a paleontologist and completely counterintuitive for a simulation game. In addition, the technical problems, performance and art direction that offer only the minimum of visual effects prevent the title from standing out in the market. Despite being marketed at a low price, we find ourselves doing the same thing over and over again without any novelty after only a few hours of play. The experience is far from being up to par and what we could expect after a rather successful demo several months ago. Let's hope that the development team fixes the technical issues quickly to try not to end up like the dinosaurs.

7.5 / 10.0 - MLB The Show 22
Apr 20, 2022

MLB The Show 22 once again offers a complete experience for all baseball fans while making the sport increasingly accessible. Now available on Nintendo Switch, the title is now offered on almost all platforms and still integrates its shared progression systems. It is therefore possible to continue playing on any platform or to play against friends who own the game on a different platform. Since its release, the game has also been available via the Xbox Game Pass subscription, always with the aim of being as accessible as possible. Nevertheless, there are even fewer new features than last year. The gameplay is almost identical and the game modes haven't changed much, just like the visual identity. Not to mention that the game still doesn't offer any localization in other languages than English. A point that is, for me, unacceptable when the developers want to make the franchise as accessible as possible. If you already own the previous game, there is very little reason to buy this 2022 edition.

4.5 / 10.0 - Shredders
Apr 6, 2022

There is not much to say about Shredders, which is not a satisfying experience. The art direction is already aging when the game is released, the animations are not very good, the missions are only sequences of courses via teleportations and the cinematics of the scenario seem to be present only to extend the life of the title. Making a successful sports and simulation game is not an easy task and I have the impression that for the first project of the FoamPunch studio it was perhaps too ambitious. If you want to make up your mind, I strongly advise you to go through an Xbox Game Pass subscription rather than paying forty dollars.

8.5 / 10.0 - Gran Turismo 7
Mar 2, 2022

Gran Turismo 7 is trying to catch up after the disappointment of the last opus with the return of players' favourite modes as well as the addition of some new features. The PS5 version offers a higher image refresh rate in addition to being closer to Polyphony Digital's goal of providing a realistic experience. Unfortunately, the behaviour of artificial intelligence, the absence of real visual damage, sometimes very low quality textures in the backgrounds, the omnipresence of menus and the feeling of repetitiveness that sets in quickly do not allow the title to rise as high as its competitors. The game should, however, satisfy a large majority of first-time fans who will undoubtedly feel nostalgic for the good old days of the franchise.

If Dying Light 2: Stay Human remains a successful action game with an interesting story, an immersive atmosphere and well-integrated role-playing elements, the title does not reinvent anything while using a theme (zombies) that have been used far too often in recent years. The end of the scenario is quickly dispatched while some fights against powerful enemies are more like a game of cat and mouse. Not to mention that progress is not transferred to all players during a cooperative session. I particularly recommend the title to those who loved the first game and are looking for a more than similar experience without a huge change in gameplay.

7.5 / 10.0 - Sifu
Feb 6, 2022

Despite its camera problems during certain fights, the difficulty which increases without any warning and the repetitive side of the levels, Sifu remains one of the only titles to offer such realistic fights. The developers also offer a very beautiful artistic direction which allows the game to stand out on the market. If the experience is clearly not intended for casual players, the proposed challenge should satisfy those accustomed to this style of play while using the features of your Dualsense on PS5.

9.5 / 10.0 - God of War
Jan 19, 2022

The PC version of God of War meets the main criteria for a successful port with compatibility with the latest technologies, the use of the peripheral of our choice or the possibility of increasing our immersion with ultra-wide screens in 21: 9. During my test, I did not have any particular technical problem or bug strictly speaking. If, according to the developers, this version of the game offers true 4K resolution, there are still textures that are a little blurrier than the others. Nothing too bad and it does not spoil the experience at all. The most positive point of the PC port of this adventure with Kratos is the fluidity that the latter possesses by allowing the user to completely unlock the frame rate.

Jurassic World Evolution 2 is a rather successful sequel to its big brother in addition to bringing some improvements to a more sophisticated enclosure management system or the addition of scientists. Not to mention the full integration of aviaries or ponds to add dinosaurs. However, the single-player campaign, which is certainly more immersive, is far too short for a game marketed at the same price as AAA or almost. The absence of a tutorial is also problematic especially for new players to the franchise who will have to themselves and via the Chaos Theory mode discover the intricacies of this management game.

7 / 10.0 - Battlefield 2042
Dec 6, 2021

Battlefield 2042 is not the title that will revolutionize the franchise. The overall experience remains similar despite the addition of characters or natural disasters. If some features bring a little comfort to the gameplay, the sensations are the same as before. The absence of the single-player mode to put all of the energy of the DICE developers on multiplayer does not make it possible to focus on the proposed universe even if this decision undoubtedly made it possible to develop the excellent Portal mode which offers real diversity during clashes. Without forgetting that if on Xbox Series X I did not experience any particular technical problems, they are indeed present on the PC version which is still inconstant today and still contains huge bugs. Overall, I don't think this new Battlefield is the long-awaited opus by the community!

8.5 / 10.0 - Age of Empires IV
Nov 9, 2021

Age of Empires IV does not reinvent anything, but offers gameplay worthy of the time while adding some subtleties to please regulars of the franchise. If the artistic direction is not unanimous and the environment is very repetitive, the title still manages to provide as much pleasure as before.

8 / 10.0 - Riders Republic
Nov 4, 2021

Riders Republic succeeded where Steep had failed a few years ago. The title offers an experience based solely on the pleasure of the game whether you are alone or with friends. The disciplines offered are numerous even if the tests are a little repetitive in the long run. The playground for its part is quite large with a diversity of landscapes. The sensations on the slopes are very good even if there are some elements of frustration, especially in the Mass Race. There is no doubt that the title should appeal to fans of the genre!

7.5 / 10.0 - NHL 22
Oct 21, 2021

NHL 22 offers a new visual experience, but does not offer anything new in the usual modes. If you have already played last year's game, the experience will be more than similar for your wallet, whereas the editions on new-generation consoles are more expensive.

Kena: Bridge of Spirits is not without flaws in having redundancy problems after a few hours or by not innovating in the field of action and adventure games. Nevertheless, Ember Labs successfully entered the field with a first full game with its own identity and its own untold story. A wonderful universe and breathtaking cinematics for a very small independent team. The title sets the bar very high for big studios who would like to offer this same kind of experience in the future!

The famous brand is back on our consoles and on PC with hundreds of cars. Hot Wheels Unleashed may not be perfect, especially in terms of its purchasing system or its redundancy in single-player mode, but it offers an accessible arcade experience that can appeal to nostalgic as well as to the youngest.

6 / 10.0 - Bus Simulator 21
Sep 29, 2021

I was still disappointed with this Bus Simulator 21 despite the addition of several new features and a diverse open world environment. The most important in this type of game is the driving, which unfortunately is not well reproduced without forgetting the many technical problems.
