7.5 / 10.0 - Monster Hunter Rise
Jan 27, 2023

The new generation port of Monster Hunter Rise is clearly below expectations. In addition to not offering all the content, the improvements are few. The title clearly suffers from its initial release on Switch and it would have been interesting if Capcom had offered a more accomplished version after several years of waiting. Nevertheless, fans of the franchise will find the usual sensations and the encounter of several iconic monsters of the series. It is also possible to play in cooperation with up to 4 players. It should be noted that no cross-platform system has been integrated and you are limited to your friends who are on the same platform. Without much surprise, this PS5 version does not really bring an advantage compared to previous releases despite some successful lighting effects.

Marvel's Midnight Sun manages to offer a more dynamic version of the other Firaxis productions. We find most of our favorite heroes in addition to having the possibility to create our own protagonist. The fights offer some real spectacular moments. The main problem of the title concerns the dead time between missions. The dialogues are far too numerous and often not very interesting. Exploring the Abbey is more of a chore than anything else while the secrets are just another text to read. The pace of the game is very uneven even if on the whole you have a good time. The title doesn't seem to know what to do.

There is no need to say, Need for Speed Unbound is not perfect, but it comes close to the good games of the license. The studio Criterion Games has done a good job in offering an art direction that stands out from the competition. The return of full vehicle customization is also very pleasing as the title has a nice list of cars. Nevertheless, the extremely repetitive nature of the events, the uninteresting multiplayer mode and the inconsistent gameplay do not allow the game to rise very high. Hopefully, this half-hearted success will allow the license to come back in force in the near future.

The port of Sackboy: A Big Adventure was made by the studio Sumo Digital, which is also the creator of the original version. Overall, the title takes the same content as before, but allows PC gamers to catch up, especially with the distribution of many costumes to customize its experience. Compatible with the Dualsense of the PS5, this version offers the highest experience. Despite some slowdowns, especially when using certain technologies such as Ray-Tracing, most of the bugs from the launch have been corrected by the developers. The PC version of Sackboy: A Big Adventure allows many players to discover this colorful and ingenious title that can be played solo or in teams.

There is not much to say about Prison Tycoon Under New Management. The title developed by the team at Abylight Studios offers a management experience similar to what is already on the market. While prisoner rehabilitation is an excellent feature, it doesn't seem to be taken to its fullest extent. I wish the developers would have fully embraced their ideas to the fullest. The construction of our prison is also limited while the art direction is already aging. The game unfortunately doesn't reach its goal of being better than the franchise it is based on.

7 / 10.0 - PGA Tour 2K23
Nov 13, 2022

If the gameplay is as complete as ever, the presence of the official licenses or the successful integration of the course creator, PGA Tour 2K23 remains very similar to the last opus. The HB Studios team has always had good ideas to offer new features, but I think that there are too few of them this time. Moreover, apart from the career mode, the remaining game modes are quite anecdotal. The presence of microtransactions that improve our character's skills totally unbalances the online matches. If you are looking for a complete golf experience, the title remains the reference in the field. However, if you already have the 2021 edition, there may be no need to pay for it.

Them's Fightin' Herds is an honest to goodness experience with its own visual identity. If you are looking for a title of the genre that is sold at a low price, but that offers a complete fighting system, the game is probably for you. Nevertheless, the low number of characters, the uninteresting story and the generous hitboxes are to be noted. Overall, the experience offered by Mane6 is quite respectable despite a few things that need to be fixed. The developers also plan to add more content later on via a seasonal subscription.

8 / 10.0 - Temtem
Oct 14, 2022

Temtem takes on one of the biggest licenses in the world and manages to pull it off. While some titles that remain in early access for several years never offer a final release, Crema studio's goal was clear from the start. To offer players a massively multiplayer adventure and a very serious alternative to the Pokémon franchise. If the game doesn't reinvent the wheel and offers an artistic direction that won't please everyone, I have to admit that it's a solid option offering a more than consistent content and a flawless technique. All you have to do is gather your team and go on an adventure!

8 / 10.0 - NBA 2K23
Sep 22, 2022

NBA 2K23 makes up for the problems that were experienced last year for the next-generation consoles. The visual bugs have been fixed, especially for the lighting effects, and the loading time has been optimized. Note that we did not have the opportunity to try the version on other platforms and it is important to point out that there seem to be several problems on the latter. The franchise mode is complete, the gameplay is still fun and the career mode is still impressive. Clearly, the developers of Visual Concepts don't seem to rely on their assets and that's great for an annual license.

8.5 / 10.0 - F1 Manager 2022
Sep 6, 2022

Being a racing and management game fan, I was looking forward to this F1 Manager 2022. On the whole, I was not disappointed. The title developed by Frontier Developpements has once again proven its know-how. We find a very complete management experience with a successful integration of the discipline and even a little more with the young drivers. The internal camera during the sessions on the track is simply amazing and the game offers a good visual identity. Nevertheless, I would have hoped to be able to start my career in a lesser discipline to climb the ladder, a better management of the AI in races and maybe a greater level of realism in the accidents on the track. However, I can't hide the fact that I am very excited that such a prestigious license is in the hands of such a talented team. The base is there, it only remains to refine.

8.5 / 10.0 - Rollerdrome
Aug 16, 2022

Rollerdrome is, in my opinion, one of the beautiful nuggets of 2022. The gameplay is very well balanced despite the absence of a modifiable difficulty. The actions that we follow offer a real satisfaction as well on the sound level as on the visual level. On this level, the artistic direction allows the title to stand out while the technique offers a fluid and spectacular experience. Roll7's new license should undoubtedly appeal to fans, but also to all players who want to impress the world with online rankings. While the basic premise is simple enough, the overall experience is diverse enough to rarely feel like you're doing the same thing. I say rarely, because in the end it's true that you start over and over again the same levels to increase your score on them. However, in my opinion, this is a very small flaw for a very high quality experience.

The PC version of Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered has been developed. It is a perfect adaptation of the original adventure, but with features to allow as many people as possible to enjoy the experience. If you respect the minimum and suggested configurations, you shouldn't encounter any glaring problems. The use of an SSD is highly recommended in order to have fast loading times just like on consoles. The strong point of the port is undoubtedly its compatibility with monitors offering other types of resolutions. Not to mention the possibility of unlocking the refresh rate if desired. All you have to do is check that your machine is compatible and take control of Peter Parker!

Forza Horizon 5: Hot Wheels is especially aimed at those who have already logged many hours on the title and want additional content. Fans of the famous small car brand will be happy to find some of the iconic models and drive them. Nevertheless, the missions offered are quite repetitive, even if the progression system is well implemented. I would have preferred to have more varied missions while the environments of this new playground are. Not to mention that the vast majority of the cars can be picked up without even accessing the DLC and are not really customizable. Still, I had a lot of fun returning to the title for a few hours. I felt like I was back in childhood again with my little cars.

PowerWash Simulator is a very accomplished game despite its rather limited concept. The handling is easy to take in hand and the cooperative mode adds a bit of fun. The content is quite imposing and this is sometimes a flaw. Many missions will take more than an hour to complete. For me, the title is a relaxing game that can be played in small doses here and there. If content updates are planned, I would have liked to go a little further in the concept with why not much more powerful tools. If you're a fan of this kind of game, you'll clearly enjoy cleaning everything. For the neophytes, the game quickly becomes repetitive despite the diversity of places to clean.

8 / 10.0 - F1 22
Jul 15, 2022

Despite some promises from the Codemasters team, F1 22 seems to suffer from the same problems as the other games published by EA Sports. The game brings a little more immersion with supercars for example, but these are really anecdotal. Once again, some of the F2 championship data is not yet up to date and you'll have to be patient. Not to mention the technical problems that are much more present than before. Fortunately, the driving sensations remain the same with an improved artificial intelligence. We should not forget the numerous accessibility options to have fun, no matter what your level is. There is also virtual reality compatibility, which offers the ultimate experience for owners of this type of device. Visually, the title is also well done. If you own last year's edition, you shouldn't really expect any big changes. Translated with www.DeepL.com/Translator (free version)

7.5 / 10.0 - The Quarry
Jun 22, 2022

The Quarry is clearly on a par with Until Dawn and reassures me after the disappointments I felt with the last games from Supermassive Games. The atmosphere is well integrated, the visual aspect is even nicer and the scenario as a whole remains interesting even if the last scenes seem a bit rushed. After talking to some of you on social networks, there are several endings available and the choices seem to have a real impact on many dialogues and cinematics. The cooperative mode also allows you to play with people who are perhaps a little less used to video games. However, it is important to remember that the in-game stages are rather anecdotal, that there are several inconsistencies in the storyline, that the game is sold at full price for a rather average lifespan and that it is rather frustrating to have no improvement to redo the story once again.

6.5 / 10.0 - Evil Dead: The Game
May 25, 2022

Evil Dead: The Game offers a mixture of nostalgia and disappointment for fans of the franchise. On the one hand, there are countless references to the original films and the series, with highly recognizable settings, the voices of the actors from the series and an art direction that follows the same codes. On the other hand, we have a title that looks very similar to other games on the market, a progression system that is practically useless, a horrific atmosphere that disappears quickly, an obligation to play with friends to really enjoy the game and a mandatory internet connection even for solo missions. So, unfortunately, I can't recommend the title, unless you are a VERY big fan of the license and have several friends to play with. Fortunately, the title offers a shared progression system between platforms, but also cross-play. Hopefully, you won't go around in circles too soon!

Dinosaur Fossil Hunter had a huge playground at its disposal, but the developers at Pyramid Games studio seem to have run out of steam. While the basic gameplay is not totally bad and could be improved via future updates, the functionality to skip some of the important steps of playing a paleontologist and completely counterintuitive for a simulation game. In addition, the technical problems, performance and art direction that offer only the minimum of visual effects prevent the title from standing out in the market. Despite being marketed at a low price, we find ourselves doing the same thing over and over again without any novelty after only a few hours of play. The experience is far from being up to par and what we could expect after a rather successful demo several months ago. Let's hope that the development team fixes the technical issues quickly to try not to end up like the dinosaurs.

7.5 / 10.0 - MLB The Show 22
Apr 20, 2022

MLB The Show 22 once again offers a complete experience for all baseball fans while making the sport increasingly accessible. Now available on Nintendo Switch, the title is now offered on almost all platforms and still integrates its shared progression systems. It is therefore possible to continue playing on any platform or to play against friends who own the game on a different platform. Since its release, the game has also been available via the Xbox Game Pass subscription, always with the aim of being as accessible as possible. Nevertheless, there are even fewer new features than last year. The gameplay is almost identical and the game modes haven't changed much, just like the visual identity. Not to mention that the game still doesn't offer any localization in other languages than English. A point that is, for me, unacceptable when the developers want to make the franchise as accessible as possible. If you already own the previous game, there is very little reason to buy this 2022 edition.

4.5 / 10.0 - Shredders
Apr 6, 2022

There is not much to say about Shredders, which is not a satisfying experience. The art direction is already aging when the game is released, the animations are not very good, the missions are only sequences of courses via teleportations and the cinematics of the scenario seem to be present only to extend the life of the title. Making a successful sports and simulation game is not an easy task and I have the impression that for the first project of the FoamPunch studio it was perhaps too ambitious. If you want to make up your mind, I strongly advise you to go through an Xbox Game Pass subscription rather than paying forty dollars.
