From the creators of Mulaka we would have sincerely expected more, and yet what the Mexican studio arrives at with Aztech Forgotten Gods is a lack of worthy spiritual successor: a sequel that could have dragged at hypersonic speeds all the charm of Aztec retrofuturism, but which limits itself to re-proposing a decidedly outdated type of game design.

6.5 / 10.0 - OddBallers
Feb 18, 2023

Summing up, OddBallers looks like a potentially very funny title, but with an overly simplistic realization, which would certainly have benefited from greater care both in the expression of one's jaunty style, as well as in the polishing phase. Being the idea behind the gameplay so simple we expect that in the future, with the right support, the Ubisoft title can expand its already decent content offer, coming to constitute a good alternative in the field of party games.

Unfortunately, the definitive edition of Outward has not been able to redeem the original work in its entirety, because it has basically maintained its same strengths and weaknesses.

6.5 / 10.0 - Wukong
Dec 19, 2021

Wukong is a 3D platformer (too much?) simple in style and gameplay, inspired by classics like Crash Bandicoot but definitely more accessible. Net of the lack of a narrative structure that fully justifies what happens on the screen, the gaming experience is partly well built, and partly too restrained on the challenge front.

6.7 / 10.0 - BLACKTAIL
Dec 15, 2022

Summing up, the first work of The Parasight turned out to be a surprise capable of surprising but also of leaving a bitter taste in the mouth, and this is unfortunately a feeling that comes well before the credits.

Although inspired on the artistic level, the debut title of Redlock Studio suffers from a still unripe technical realization, which goes to affect in particular the combat system. Soulslike with more than appreciable platforming contaminations, Shattered: Tale of the Forgotten King can therefore only represent an opportunity for improvement for the French team, which must however be recognized for having created a suggestive world with a very well written story.

Tribes of Midgard is a good compromise between team play, exploration and survival. A sandbox with an intriguing setting, albeit artistically un-inspired, which offers a type of approach to the genre by virtue of accessibility and cooperation.

7.2 / 10.0 - Ravenous Devils
Apr 29, 2022

Ravenous Devils is a delightfully macabre and in some ways original management system, inspired on the artistic front as well as retained on a playful level. The gaming system developed by Bad Vices Games is able to offer a galvanizing experience that unfortunately echoes a certain surrender, the daughter of a well-thought-out development that lacks ambition. It is as a whole a more than appreciable work if you love splatter tales in the style of Jack the Ripper.

7.5 / 10.0 - Atlas Fallen
Aug 9, 2023

Atlas Fallen manages to mix its constituent elements with a certain harmony. Its sandy world is pleasant to explore and contains a secondary offer that - while not departing from what we have seen in other exponents of the open world genre - expands the hour count in a non-artificial way.

7.5 / 10.0 - Road 96: Mile 0
Apr 4, 2023

Prequel to Road 96 and - at the same time - spiritual successor of Lost in Harmony, the new title of DigixArt contains a multifaceted experience, in the name of hybrid gameplay and a story yet to be written.

The Cruel King and the Great Hero is a sincere production, which aims neither to distort the canons of the turn-based role-playing game, nor to amaze with who knows what technical innovation.

Evil Genius 2: World Domination is a worthy successor to that never forgotten first chapter.

Golf Club: Wasteland is a story made of stories, of messages left by the strongly representative scenography and the testimonies of credible characters without a face. Despite the fact that the production visibly struggles on the gameplay front due to a tenor of challenge that tends to never take off, it must be recognized that the demagog studio proposal can adequately counterbalance the lack of playful depth with a well-kept staging.

Curious Expedition 2 followed in the footsteps of its predecessor, undoubtedly improving the playful formula and expanding the scope of the offer. It is a narrative roguelike that stumbles a bit in combining its two souls, but at the same time manages to give a type of experience full of content and compelling precisely by virtue of its procedural nature.

7.6 / 10.0 - Beyond a Steel Sky
Dec 12, 2021

Revolution Software is back in the spotlight in better shape than ever. In the footsteps of that never really forgotten Beneath a Steel Sky takes shape a sequel worthy of its playful heritage, which finds in this new chapter a three-dimensional space and an unprecedented fluidity. Adventure with serious but not serious tones, Beyond a Steel Sky succeeds in the daring enterprise of combining the charm of the classic with that of the modern, giving life to a truly charismatic and playfully valid product.

BPM: Bullets for Minute responds to that nostalgia that all lovers of rhythmic games have had for a long time, placing themselves - with an exuberant, but thoughtful combination of solutions - halfway between a first-person shooter and a roguelike. The real stylistic signature of the work naturally lies in the ubiquitous soundtrack and in the cunning way in which the Awe Interactive team has managed to combine its rhythmic progression with the assets of combat, revealing a multifaceted title but with a strong playful identity.

Although the inspiration to P.T. was even obvious, which certainly could raise doubts about the personality of the title, MADiSON qualifies as a proud exponent of its category.
