Fantasian Neo Dimension is a modern classic that may not be visually impressive, apart from the pretty dioramas of course, but offers everything that is important in the genre. Lovable characters, who are now superbly voiced, an exciting story and a battle system that can stand out a little from the normal turn-based RPG. And Uematsu's soundtrack is, of course, fantastic.

Fairy Tail 2 has wonderfully refreshed the battle system from the first one and now lets you play through the story from the original brilliantly right up to the finale. The music and the Japanese dubbing roles really bring out the magic of the series and should get you through the game well as a fan, as the world outside of the story unfortunately offers little and sometimes feels a little lifeless.

Romancing SaGa 2: Revenge of the Seven skillfully shows what a remake of an old classic can look like. It can still impress and both the beautiful visuals and the revised combat system provide hours of fun. You can even choose between the new or old soundtrack and listen to a complete voice-over. JRPG fans will not be able to avoid this game.

Farming Simulator 25 is not an annual update and yet it feels like one. In a good and bad way, however, because there are new features, but at the same time a lot remains the same. New features are welcome, the new fruits and animals as well as the helpers are great and it continues to offer the best way to heat through the fields with combine harvesters and co, but remains graphically and for beginners very far behind.

LEGO Horizon Adventures is a double-edged sword of bricks. It looks unbelievably great, transports the template superbly and for the first time really brings a Lego world to life, in which there is definitely a lot to discover. However, the levels remain far too dull and offer no surprises or excitement and barely make use of the game's mechanics, even if the battles are really fun.

Farmagia turns out to be a real surprise and knows how to impress with its really special mix of farming, monster tactics and action gameplay. The characters and the world come into their own even more for fans of Hiro Mashima's works, even if the presentation leaves a lot to be desired.

Dragon Age: The Veilguard is a return to old form, albeit not the best form. The action-packed battles with tactical elements are once again a lot of fun and the characters, both good and evil, bring the usual Bioware quality. It could have been a bit more stringent and there aren't many really important decisions, but this is the studio's best title since Mass Effect 3.

Metal Slug Tactics is just as visually and design-wise charming as the other offshoots, but this time it takes you into a very sophisticated tactical system with roguelike elements. Unfortunately, some of the gameplay is a little too forced and detracts from the fun, and it's not easy either, but the motivation to keep unlocking new things and completing just this one map will keep you hooked.

Life is Strange: Double Exposure will certainly not be able to please either camp of Chloe Ultras, but it simply finds the best and most adult middle ground, supported by another great soundtrack. The new characters are believable, superbly voiced and graphically realized and the story also knows where to set exciting cliffhangers. Perhaps a little too easy to escape fate at the end, but the many positive aspects outweigh the negative ones all the time.

A Quiet Place: The Road Ahead captures the atmosphere of the films really well and offers an immersive horror experience similar to Alien: Isolation. Unfortunately, it's technically completely unsatisfactory and often requires you to progress a little too slowly, which really reduces the enjoyment of the game.

Ys X: Nordics takes the series a step further and even appeals to fans of sea battles. The battles are fast and fun, the traversal across the different areas is nicely varied, even if the graphics unfortunately can't really keep up. If you fancy a Nordic anime setting and want to keep expanding your crew, this is the perfect game for you, even if you haven't played any of the Ys games.

Starship Troopers: Extermination is more fun than you might initially think. Solo you should avoid it, but in multiplayer, the motivating shooting really gets going and keeps you on your toes. However, a few more maps and a lower price would be nice, especially as it's not exactly up to scratch technically and graphically.

Sword Art Online: Fractured Daydream is better than many of the previous attempts to turn the SAO license into a game. The story may not be worth mentioning and the missions quickly become repetitive, but it plays really well and the online team battles in particular are great fun with other anime fans.

Silent Hill 2 is a consistently great remake. It respects the original and still manages to implement a few skillful innovations for fans. The graphics are great, the new voices are superb and the atmosphere in particular keeps you in constant suspense almost the whole time. If you like horror or simply great stories, then definitely play it.

Undisputed may not pick up every boxing fan after all these years, but it definitely manages to revive the sport. A decent presentation, a lot of tactical depth and powerful fights are a lot of fun, but the game still doesn't feel completely rounded, as career mode and the character editor still need fine-tuning.

Dragon Ball: Sparking! ZERO is a dream come true for anyone who has a thing for saiyans and the seven balls. It looks incredibly good, offers a huge playground in its modes, has plenty of characters and Easter eggs and skillfully revives the Budokai Tenkaichi series. Kamehame-oh yah!

Metaphor: ReFantazio is the almost perfect evolution of the studio's earlier games. It takes everything familiar from the genre to an incredibly high level of quality, surprises with its story and direction and impresses throughout with its presentation and accompanying soundtrack. The loop of great battles and the motivating calendar system will eat up your free time in an instant.

Ara: History Untold has found a great way to assert itself in the 4X game market. It brings a very realistic and beautiful graphic style, has done away with the hexagons and brought in many very deep systems and a diverse production. It's just really not for newcomers to the genre and can be a little frustrating, especially at the beginning.

Episode Aigis - The Answer wonderfully expands the story of Persona 3 Reload, offers the usual fun fights, superb soundtrack and serves as a great, very emotional epilogue, but suffers from the same old dungeons and little aside from a lengthy combat-loop.

Iron Meat is like a fresh breeze of Contra nostalgia. It has pixel-nostalgia, comes with a great guitar-heavy soundtrack and has some really nice meaty designs. Unfortunately, at one to two hours, it's a very short game, but, especially in co-op, it invites you to play a short round again and again.
