Watcher Chronicles offers enough of an RPG action platforming challenge to make you work for it, and provides enough satisfaction to keep you coming back for more (especially in local multiplayer). It doesn't take itself too seriously, it just lets the player(s) get on with enjoying the game.
Make no mistake, there’s not as much depth here as there is in most other Soulslikes. Mechanically it’s not particularly impressive, either. But the art style of Watcher Chronicles truly makes it stand out, and it’s perhaps one of the most forgiving entries in the genre, making it an ideal starting point. This is a solid, accessible Soulslike, then. Fun to play, at least until repetitiveness possibly sets in, but rather forgettable once you’re done with it.
Watcher Chronicles is a great, challenging game with beautiful art and music. This is definitely a game for those who want to struggle against hard and difficult enemies and get that Dark Souls-like difficulty.
Watcher Chronicles isn't a groundbreaking game and doesn't focus on story or narrative, but the combat and its souslike RPG characteristics are satisfying. The fun is guaranteed both playing alone and in multiplayer – a mode with coherent adaptations that make the game more dynamic to be played in pairs, despite the limitations for the second player.

Watcher Chronicles is a title with solid gameplay, good variety of equipments and values the player's thinking and reflexes. However, it presents a strong feeling of a totally generic experience due to its ambientation and story being totally disposable. Despite that, if this factor does not bother you, this is a really competent 2D Soulslike.
