The action RPG combat is enjoyable, if not outstanding, and the world and storytelling are really engrossing.

Sword and Fairy: Together Forever is an entry that embraces new visitors, keeping a simple narrative and focusing mostly on visual attraction. However, we find the same repetitive formula that characterizes the saga, almost feeling like we are playing an MMORPG. Nevertheless, it is smoothly presented and appealing to RPG lovers.

Graphics are not massively important to me. Sure, I like nice shiny graphics, but gameplay and story are what makes a good game for me. But in Sword and Fairy: Together Forever, graphics take centre stage.

Just like a famous Chinese saying, on one hand Sword and Fairy: Together Forever isn't especially strong in any aspect. On the other, it's flexible in showing good qualities in various distinct points. Even with this being the franchise's first action RPG, it manages to offer an experience that honors its long-standing series. Based on Chinese culture, the adventure takes us to sceneries filled with magic and beauty, with many thrilling combats and missions. However, it lacks polishment in some elements and more depth in battle considering its length. Even so, here's a beautiful addition to your library, especially for fans of the genre and those who love unique ambientations.

I was excited about getting to play this title as it is my first time playing a Sword and Fairy game, and my excitement was justified. I have loved this game from start to finish – it’s my kind of game. The depth of lore, the engaging story, and the fun combat are all captivating. Everyone who loves JRPGs, or just RPGs in general, will enjoy this game.

Sword and Fairy: Together Forever was made for already existing fans and is an unsuitable jumping-off point for newcomers. At a minimum, one should have at least gone through Sword and Fairy 6 but will be better off knowing the entire series. This might be a tall order, as most of the games are exclusively in Mandarin and sold only in Asia.

Sword and Fairy: Together Forever has plenty of charm and enjoyable combat but mixed presentation, poor translation, and far simply being too easy hampers the experience.

A genuine diamond in the rough kind of game. Sword and Fairy: Together Forever constantly had my attention with varied gameplay, diverse and gorgeous locations, fantastic pacing and some genuinely touching character moments. If not for a handful of technical issues and a wonky but still understandable translation: Sword and Fairy: Together Forever would’ve scored higher. I loved it, regardless.

I truly hope that Sword and Fairy: Together Forever finally releasing on consoles gives the series the boost it needs towards more widespread recognition globally. It’s a fantastic title with some of the deepest lore to grace the genre in a while, which also manages to back up its compelling narrative with combat that is a joy to engage with. In a summer that has sorely been lacking in epic RPGs for genre enthusiasts to get stuck into, Sword and Fairy: Together Forever not only helps fill that void but does so with a level of style and heart that begs to be experienced.

I can imagine that in a few years, Sword and Fairy will be a big RPG series in the west. Some things need to be optimised in the next game but there are many things to love: A great story, superb characters, a beautiful world and the soundtrack just to name a few.

Sword and Fairy: Together Forever was a pleasure to experience. From the richly detailed environments and musical accompaniments to the solid storyline, great characters, exploration and combat design, it was hard to believe at times that this was a sequel to Sword and Fairy 6. This latest entry to the series has made a massive jump forwards and I’m looking forward to what comes next.
