Critic Reviews for Peaky Blinders: The King's Ransom

A short but sweet VR romp that replicates the Peaky Blinders universe perfectly, even as it runs up against some of the intrinsic limitations of VR gaming on the Meta Quest 2.

Limitations of the tech notwithstanding, Peaky Blinders: The King's Ransom is a great adventure game filled with iconic characters and absolutely seething with atmosphere.

I had bigger hopes for this one. But still Peaky Blinders: The King’s Ransom is a fun VR adventure game that you’ll enjoy. You don’t have to be a fan of the TV series to enjoy the game, but it helps. Either way, there’s a solid narrative to experience, first-person. And the gameplay is fun and varied, even if the world feels like a beautiful animatronic amusement park ride at times. If you’re a bloke who fancies a good wallop and a bust up at the local boozer, give Peaky Blinders: The King’s Ransom a look.

Peaky Blinders is certainly one of the more interesting games created directly for VR, although it suffers from the characteristic ills that accompany this sphere. The shorter length can be justified by a fairly solid dynamic story, where you have the impression that for a moment you have entered a film with the usual footage.

Peak Blinders: The King’s Ransom gave me a few brief moments that made me smile with happiness, being within that world and its characters. Although, much of that is only because of the things that are ripped right from the show. Unfortunately, it’s every where else that it fails. The boring general gameplay and the one note gunplay wasn’t fun, and it left me with a sour taste, even during the ceremony joining the Peaky Blinders and getting my hat.
