Critic Reviews for Remnant II - The Dark Horizon
Filled with secrets and dangers, Remnant 2: The Dark Horizon is a solid final offering for the three promised expansions.
Remnant II Dark Horizon is an extremely fun DLC that caps the game off in a brilliant way. Sure, there is no expansion to the main story but there didn't need to be. Instead, the story of N'Erud is finished in a fun way.
Well, here we are. Remnant 2 - The Dark Horizon might be the final DLC for Remnant 2, but it isn’t going out without a bang. The new area of N'Erud, while smaller, is quite different from the base game and much more interesting. The combat mechanics remain as engaging as ever, making gameplay a blast. The update to the Fragments system and the addition of Prisms provide even more customization options. Plus, the Boss Rush mode is a lot of fun when playing with others.
The Dark Horizon still doesn't approach the best highs from Remnant 2. However, it rounds out the DLC trilogy in a decent way, with an intriguing new location and strong Archetype.
Remnant II: The Dark Horizon's lacklustre story mixed with a shallow villain makes for a bland playthrough narratively. However, the new Warden Archetype, refined prism system, excellent new loot and new zones on N’Erud help pull the DLC up by its boots straps.
Remnant II: The Dark Horizon expands the arsenal of weapons and items and explores a new story on the planet of N'erud by introducing more locomotion mechanics that often complicate navigation unnecessarily. The Warden is an interesting archetype especially for solo players and the addition of the boss rush mode exploits the replay factor of the game considerably.
