The Slovak gravedigger is good at both wielding a shovel and shooting. Fatbot Games has brought great action in the style of popular classic FPS games.

The one-episode early access version shows *Gravelord* to be a visually appealing, entertaining, and well-designed shooter with polished levels. Don’t be put off by the presence of tarot cards—they don’t detract from the classic “boomer shooter” gameplay at all. I enjoyed the game even though its somewhat clichéd humor didn’t really appeal to me.

Gravelord is a good modern boomer shooter that respects its roots and creates its own path. It’s fast, it’s crazy, it’s stylish, and always fun. When the movement mechanism is working properly, and the tarot build complements the flow of battle, it’s hard to quit playing. It’s not just another old-school shoot ‘em up. It makes you wonder why the genre worked in the first place, and how it can evolve without losing what makes it.

Gravelord is a thrilling and inventive addition to the boomer shooter genre, blending classic FPS mechanics with fresh ideas and modern visuals. Its fast-paced combat, creative level design, and quirky sense of humor make it a standout title, even in its Early Access state. While there’s room for improvement in areas like platforming difficulty and enemy AI, the game’s strong foundation and planned updates promise a bright future. Whether you’re a fan of retro shooters or just looking for a fun, chaotic FPS, Gravelord is well worth your time. Queedo’s shovel-wielding, wisecracking journey is one you won’t want to miss.
