Overruled is a multiplayer brawler like no other - players change the rules and objectives as they play, directly influencing the dynamics of the game. No two games are ever the same! Challenge your friends or take on strangers in both local and online battles with up to 4 people in frantic fights to the finish. The end goal is simple - most points wins - but getting there is where the madness lies! Use over 30 different change ‘em-up cards to completely change the game as you’re playing. You could be playing Swag Bag now, but one of your enemies might change it to King of the Hill… or Fire Tag… Or Smash ‘n Grab…

Overruled!'s core premise isn't a bad one at all, and developer Dlala Studios clearly has good intentions behind it. However, almost every aspect of the game fails to impress, and the title is ultimately best avoided because of it - especially given the release's desolate online servers, and lack of any meaningful single-player experience.

Overruled feels like something that would have been on the first Xbox at the same price. The gameplay has its place in the systems' library, but there is a lot of room for improvement here.

Overruled! has a few decent ideas in hand, the game-changing card system is especially quaint and brings much needed elements of luck to an easily mastered game. The local experience is phenomenal and proves to be close to couch warfare at its best, but simply falls flat on its face everywhere else.

At the end of the day, I had an absolute blast playing Overruled! and that, for me, is the most important metric by which any game can be judged. While the first round was a confusing morass of blind fumbling and trying to understand, all the ones after it were an exercise in the best kind of tense, engaging gameplay.
