Ferocious

Critic Reviews for Ferocious
Ferocious stands as a striking example of a project that attempted to sprint before learning to walk. Its ambition to emulate AAA-scale design has resulted in an overengineered architecture that constrains rather than enriches gameplay. With careful simplification, system refinement, and combat rebalancing, the title could still evolve into a cohesive and rewarding experience. As it stands, however, it remains disjointed, often exhausting, and frequently frustrating – demanding a level of patience few players are likely to tolerate.
FEROCIOUS is what I'd call a perfect example of getting the vibe right. While the gameplay leave a lot to be desired, the compelling slow-burn, decent gunplay, and cheap price point makes it a very surprising game to sink your teeth in.
I have to be honest that I was excited to play a dinosaur game that had the potential to give some scares and provide that action I've been missing recently, but FEROCIOUS couldn't deliver. I could have got past some of the blandness walking around and fighting the enemies while I went from outpost to outpost, but it technically wasn't all there. Too many bugs (some of which caused me to lose unsaved progress) and performance issues brought down my enjoyment of this one. Maybe next time.
FEROCIOUS isn't a triple-A game, or even a double-A one. But the skill of its small team of developers results in a fun game that blends shooting with crafting and puzzle-solving. While the graphics hold their own, the sound design is very lacking. Despite all its flaws, FEROCIOUS has managed to keep us glued to the controller, making us enjoy ourselves and want to get lost on this strange island in search of all its secrets.
