Critic Reviews for lily's world XD
lily's world XD is a short horror game that's worth the time you invest in it and the frustration you might feel from some of the puzzles. It's a game that lived in my mind even after I was finished, and I believe that its concept being grounded in reality is part of the reason for that.
Though it’s heavy-handed with its themes, they’re also raw and easy to connect with and empathise with. It’s a shame the pacing falls short, as the mystery is engaging and the story becomes increasingly compelling just as the game comes to an abrupt end.
Perfectly capturing the feeling of being online in the early 2000s, Lily's World XD is an intriguing desktop investigation game that shines a light on the pressures of being a teenage girl via a dark and unsettling story.
The concept of telling a story through a computer definitely has a lot to offer, and Lily’s World XD is a very good example of that. Despite certain limitations, it is an atmospheric narrative experience that could also appeal to horror fans. Moreover, it carries a strong message for people who struggle with themselves and their own appearance.
