Spy Drops Gaiden is a competent and well made retro stealth action game. It's a bit of a lightweight compared to something like Ghost Babel, which was stuffed to the brim with content and interesting challenges, but it's also priced accordingly. The whole thing is over in a couple of hours and ends when things get interesting. With a solid foundation in place, adding more areas and puzzle-like environments could unlock great potential for similar games.

Spy Drops Gaiden is a short but enjoyable stealth adventure that captures much of what makes retro gaming appealing. Learning enemy patterns, discovering the best routes and improving your mission rankings kept me engaged, while the Game Boy-inspired presentation gives it plenty of personality. It won’t suit everyone, particularly if you prefer modern stealth games with smoother controls and more elaborate mechanics. But for the price, there’s a lot to like here. I came away genuinely impressed and even found myself interested in checking out the original Spy Drops. If you have a soft spot for retro games and enjoy a bit of sneaking around, this little mission is well worth accepting.

Spy Drops Gaiden is an improvement over its predecessor while also successfully recreating the experience of playing a Game Boy title.
