Angry Video Game Nerd II: ASSimilation Reviews
While I've talked extensively about the things that didn't quite do it for me, I will say this: if you enjoyed the first game, or if you're a diehard fan of the web series or the movie, you will more than likely appreciate this sequel. For everyone else, including those like me with only a passing interest in the web series, it's a very hit-or-miss experience. If you enjoy potty humor and language filled with more “fucks” and “shits” than you can shake a stick at, then Angry Video Game Nerd II is definitely for you. If not, then I might suggest looking elsewhere to get your platforming fix, because while the actual gameplay is decent once all the humor has been removed from the equation, it's still not the greatest.
An enjoyable, challenging, varied action-platformer-shooter-tribute-thingy; enjoyable for superfans and the, uh, laynerd alike.
AVGN II is a fantastic tribute to the most famous nerd of the internet: a solid game under every aspect and full of funny references. If you're a fan of the AVGN, we highly suggest to buy this game.

"Obnoxious" is the best description of ASSimilation, as might be guessed by the entirely meaningless suffix in the title. There are fewer Death Blocks, but the level design isn't any better, and is, in fact, more generic than ever. Enemies and obstacles too clearly fall into one of about five categories and change only appearances between the stages, and the bosses are just as uninspired. A replay of the initial Angry Video Game Nerds Adventure would be vastly superior to waste a few hours - if your desire is to play repetitious stages filled with interchangeable hazards, then why not save some money and just buy the cheaper and superior original?
