Critic Reviews for Enigmatis: The Ghosts of Maple Creek

Enigmatis kept me intrigued from beginning to end…

Enigmatis: The Ghosts of Maple Creek is another solid adventure game from Artifex Mundi. Despite bringing the gameplay back to basics with basic hidden object scenes and point & click problem solving, players must use their own initiative to progress through the game, while the new Evidence wall means that players will truly become immersed in the story rather than watching the events play out.

Yet another example that HOPA games can be done right on the consoles. Great adventure made in classic Artifex Mundi style.

To be fair, it’s tough making a convincing argument for the hidden object genre as anything more than a workplace timekiller when other browser game sites have been firewalled. Artifex Mundi has some decent puzzle work in their portfolio, but 'Enigmatis: The Ghosts of Maple Creek' was more of a chore than an engaging adventure experience.

Artifex Mundi always shines when it comes to HOPA games. Enigmatis, being one of their first and now released on consoles, is simple, yet polished and thrilling. It's a good introduction to the genre.

No matter how interactive finding hidden objects is, it always leads to boredom. Having said that, if you’re still looking for a chance to get some detective works done, give Enigmatis: The Ghosts of Maple Creek a try.
