NO THING Reviews
NO THING is a surreal constant runner experience with simplistic gameplay mechanics that make it accessible to everyone. It’s still a title for eclectic tastes though, due to its abstract narration, weird visuals and difficult challenge level.
The game may confuse you with its mechanics and gameplay, but the real beauty within NO THING is its story. It’s about the beauty of ‘illusion’. It was set in a totalitarian world, after all. No matter what path (or platform) you choose to go with in this game, it will always bring you to the same place where you’re supposed to head. That’s the beauty of illusion. That’s the beauty of choices. Ultimately, that’s the beauty of this game.
Your mileage with NO THING will depend on how much patience and thought you’re willing to give it. There’s a story buried in a trippy, simplistic autorunner that actively works to frustrate the player at times. A cool vaporware aesthetic and a hand full of decent songs don’t make it any less aggravating to play or help the delivery of a tale that needed clarity.
