Critic Reviews for Super Rad Raygun
Maybe a little bit of polish on the controls or some fine tuning with the difficulty curve, but Super Rad Raygun is definitely worth a playthrough. As a love letter to the Game Boy era and classic games, in general, you’d be hard pressed to find another game made with such passion and style.
In the end, despite it bringing classic issues along with it that can lead to a rather inconsistent difficulty, I quite enjoyed my time with Super Rad Raygun, although it could have been a bit more fine-tuned and polished. Its monochrome off-green visuals provide a nostalgic Game Boy-era experience that’s merely complemented with tight and simple platforming controls.
Super Rad Raygun is for the retro gamer seeking challenge, as its filled with nostalgic designs, sounds, and references.
A classic style any one could pick up and play. Easy and fun as long as you have a controller.
Even if you aren't a big fan of the instantly respawning enemies, the gameplay in Super Rad Raygun hits enough of the classic beats to make it a dead ringer for some of the titles from decades ago. The battery-swapping mechanic gives the game a little depth. The Game Boy-inspired graphical style is cute, and the rest of the presentation is absolutely solid. Super Rad Raygun is a title that's worth checking out, especially if you're a big fan of retro-style games.
