Few games manage to properly capture the sensation of becoming a superhero, and for the most part those that do it best are often firmly grounded in reality, like the Arkham Series; even the Infamous games and those that do take a more fantastical approach to the genre are constrained by the fact that they're generally restricted to a single city. Megaton Rainfall gives you the entire planet to take care of and, while it can be an overwhelming responsibility at times, it's one that I find myself stepping up to time and time again.

Megaton Rainfall is a game at odds with itself. It seems like it was built to be a VR title about being a superhero, but it lacks the hardware support on the PC to make that a reality. It tries to make you a more responsible superhero when it comes to protecting innocent lives, but the controls and lack of a good targeting system make it difficult to follow through. The game provides an open universe to explore but very few things to actually check out. In the end, Megaton Rainfall is a curiosity, and although it isn't a must-have title, it could be worth a look if the price is right.

Megaton Rainfall is an interesting title, it hands the player overpowered abilities and a huge sandbox to play in but forces the player to restrain themselves by making collateral damage the key to success or failure. I had hours of fun exploring the universe, checking out landmarks and discovering secrets out in the galaxy between fighting off waves of alien enemies. Unfortunately I have to mark Megaton Rainfall down for its mission-breaking bugs, however this title is a refreshing experience and a fun one at that. I recommend just taking some time to sit quietly and absorb the experience that is Megaton Rainfall.

Megaton Rainfall is more of an experience than a game and one I soon won't forget.

Megaton Rainfall is a very interesting brainstorming title, which would simply need to be polished. Still, it is not a bad idea to take a look at it if one likes to travel through space and launch waves of destructive energy.

Megaton Rainfall is an interesting, exciting and impressive indie game but it's repetitive gameplay and low polygon graphics really hurt it when compared to other virtual reality titles.

Megaton Rainfall is not the most memorable game I’ve ever played. It’s repetitive gameplay and lack of an established narrative is its biggest downfall. Despite this it isn't a bad game, just lacking. If you’re a superhero fan or just fancy sticking it to some extra terrestrial invaders it's certainly the one you’re looking for. If you’re one for deep plot and engaging characters then you’ll probably want to sit this one out.

In the end, Megaton Rainfall exceeded all my expectations, while a few more options would be appreciated for controllers, the gameplay itself is solid and gives plenty of replay value. Even getting it for the ability to fly like a superhero in VR is a solid reason.

What you may not know is that Megaton Rainfall was created by just one person, Alfonso del Cerro, over a five year span. This part is very true including the engine. So just take that in for a minute. One dream…one person and the result is one of the best super hero games to ever grace our presence.
