Evil Genome is a metroidvania that gets the most important part right, and left me wanting in every other category.
Technical issues, and lack of polish put aside, Evil Genome is just a mediocre action-adventure, that only metroidvania aficionados can manage to enjoy for more than an hour. Bring its many problems back in, and what you get is a bargain bin metroidvania that simply isn't worth the trouble... fan or not.
Evil Genome is a bad game, period, with lots of room to improve. What matters is what it represents: a sign that Chinese developers are daring to leave the usual box. Just a small silver light on a very cloudy day.

In conclusion, I found the game cool, you have to take into account what I said at the beginning, which is an indie studio of 20 people and has its limitations. It is not expensive, 15 euros, if you really like these genres you should give it a try.
