Overall, Ni No Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom gets a 9/10, improving on the prequel, adding in new mechanics and everything makes this on par, if not better, than the first game. Overused voice cues can feel grating at times, alongside some mechanics taking too long are some aspects that do bring the game down a bit.

Following the success of the first game and the sheer hype that’s built ever since the initial reveal, my expectations were exceedingly high going into Ni No Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom. Thankfully, it’s managed to absolutely smash them, with the game’s perfect amalgamation of clever gameplay mechanics and it’s charming story coming together to make for what is one of the most entertaining RPGs I’ve ever played. You could be building your own little Kingdom, taking part in strategic showdowns between armies, battling an onslaught of colourful monsters in the wild, or simply taking in the beautiful sights of the finely crafted world – whatever you’re doing, you’ll be having a blast and will simply be left in awe of how perfectly everything manages to come together. Bravo to Level-5 and Bandai Namco. With Ni No Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom, they’ve embraced everything about the RPG genre that’s made it so loved by gamers worldwide and managed to take it to the absolute pinnacle. Ni No Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom is simply an unmissable game.

A sweeping and poignant epic, Ni no Kuni II is the kind of game that will steal weeks of your life – the main campaign takes at least 40 hours, and then there’s a wealth of side quests and other asides that add even more value to the package. In short, Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom is a masterpiece that JRPG fans will not want to miss.

Ni No Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom was a particular disappointment for me. While beautiful and with a combat system that carries significant potential, the game is undermined by a failure to balance the combat for sufficient threat. While this could have been resolved by the simple inclusion of a difficulty setting, the game also features many weak side features, from the town-building to the side quests. Fans of the original aren’t the only ones who may get some enjoyment from returning to the world of Ni No Kuni, but I suspect there will be others like me who will leave unsatisfied for their time spent.

Ni No Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom is a powerful experience that has kept me on the hook for well over 60hours and will continue to do so as I chase down each side-quest, look to tackle every Dreamer Maze and expand Evermore’s influence even further. Ni No Kuni II has a charm that few games possess and with it, rarely ceases to put a smile upon your face. With so much doom and gloom in the world, a world that is then reflected in the games we play, it’s so uplifting to see a game that resonates so much with the player because of the heart it has and the love that the developers had for their work.

Ni No Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom is easily one of the best games of this early 2018 and will probably mark the rest of the year for its great accomplishment. Both a visual and musical feast for all sort of players, Level-5’s sequel to the original JRPG mixes both a bold change of gameplay mechanics, additional depth, and a solid story without harming the legacy of the series. A delight for both fans and newcomers.

Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom is definitely the most beautiful RPG of this year so far. The little details, the great side stories, every little npc and the wonderful animations also makes the second entry of the series an amazing experience. Even if the recruiting of people sometimes feel like a painful chore and the tactical parts of the gameplay doesn't always shine, the rest of the games features make you forget about it.

Ni No Kuni II took bold steps compared to the first part, some of which were correct, such as introducing a different, more rapid and varied system of clashes, some of which were not as successful as the real world events. However, the title presented a simple story that would relate to any player quickly and personalities with excellent but limited audio performance And a thrilling virtual world embracing numerous adventures that will take hours of planning, development and interesting battles.
