After the revolution, humanity’s efforts to meld cold robotics and nature have paid off. Earth has revitalized itself – and now the global utopia once thought impossible has become a reality. This bio-mechanical paradise has emerged thanks in no small part to a steady disarmament campaign. Yet even in times of absolute peace, shadowy secrets lurk. Several weapon research facilities remain operational; hidden from the public eye, they’re kept alive as an ‘insurance policy’ against unforeseen threats. Within these clandestine halls, scientists work tirelessly to design powerful combat systems never before imagined by humankind. When a security breach threatens one of these facilities (Arch City), you’ll take control of the most advanced hardware ever developed: a Human-Operated Remote Droid prototype. Elite pilots of the advanced H.O.R.D. chassis are tasked with blasting through endless squads of rebellious bots. These aren't just your average Serve N' Show bots either - Charge Bots, Slice Bots, Bouncing Betties, Crab Bots, and Hyper Turrets, to name a few. Surviving that maelstrom, well, no one has made it. Yet.

Kite Reviews

I recommend Kite. It's often thrilling, and there are so many good ideas under the hood, that enduring some of the frustration still leaves you with a unique action game experience.

If Kite had been released in the early '90s it would be one of the biggest hits of the time. This is 2018, however, and nostalgia, while a strong marketing tool, is not enough. Sure, the action is fast and relentless, and it's a pleasure to use the many weapons at hand to wreak some havoc. Unfortunately, it all becomes repetitive too soon, even if you take the grinding for upgrades out of the picture.

Geeks Under Grace

Kite is an exciting game that offers much to both long time fans of the shoot em up genre as well as newcomers. It's surprising but not intimidating depth ensures that the game offers a level of complexity without sacrificing its fast paced nature. The game suffers from a bug preventing progress past a certain point, however. The experience is still fun, but until this is fixed, it is a frustrating end to what would otherwise be an excellent game.

Kite is going to appeal to those who are after a little bit of a nostalgia hit. And in the times where nostalgia is almost a selling point for games, TV shows and movies, Kite has flown in at precisely the right time to hit that sweet spot. It has been designed by a single man with a passion for the genre and it shows throughout. It’s not perfect, it’s not even brilliant, but what Kite does well it does really well. If I had this game as a kid I would have been delighted.
