Critic Reviews for Animal Super Squad

Overall Animal Super Squad just isn't all that interesting to play. Why? It simply feels like it's manufactured to try and capitalize on what made certain other games successful for streamers and content creators across the internet.

Dripping with charm and frequently laugh-out-loud funny, Animal Super Squad is a good example of when physics-based gameplay is done right. There are some elements such as boss battles, multiplayer and HD rumble that aren't in this game and the lack of these features will be bothersome for some Switch users. However, this little gem is a formidable first entry into the indie scene for the YouTube personality and positively paves the way to what's looking to be a successful new venture for DoubleMoose.

There are no collectibles in this game, which is a bit odd since collectibles and platformers go hand in hand. In the end, this is an indie game available for $9.99, which is a good price for the content created by the developer as the main set of stages, plus the theoretically unlimited content you gain access to with the ton of stages available online. If you're looking for a quirky, colorful and fun physics-based platformer on Nintendo Switch, then you should check this one out. Danger is all over the place, but if you give this game a chance, you'll find a solid platforming option to play at home or on the go.

Animal Super Squad is a welcomed addition to the Nintendo Switch library and a game that is just as fun to play at home or on the go. The many levels the team at DoubleMoose Games has created will keep you busy for a while, and you can then dive into creating your own stages or playing those already created by players around the world to keep the fun going for many extra hours. If you're looking for a colorful and charming physics-based platformer on Nintendo's hybrid console, then be sure to give this one a go!

If Animal Super Squad's gameplay was tightened up and it offered more of a challenge then it would be as fun as it is funny.

Overall, if you're looking for a pretty budget-friendly diversion that doesn't take itself too seriously and has quirky surprises of fun Animal Super Squad isn't a bad deal. The core levels present a fairly consistent and enjoyable experience, there are some silly unlockables to be found hidden about, and if you want to amp up the difficulty the hidden challenge levels will make you work hard to succeed. While the inclusion of a level editor and community support are always a plus for some people walk in with the understanding that it won't have you quickly making good stuff, it's a bit cumbersome and there's simply a lot to do in order to tune a level for a crazy game like this. All said it's fun, different, pretty weird, and reasonably affordable.

While the game does lack in terms of official content, it is fun regardless. The community levels provide for limitless playability and the gameplay itself is perfect to unwind to.
