Critic Reviews for BattleTech: Heavy Metal
BattleTech: Heavy Metal adds great new mechs and an engrossing campaign, but it's aimed squarely at fans.
Folding in a fresh stable of mechs, and eight new weapons, Heavy Metal brings new ways to play. It also delivers a brand new mech in the Bull Shark, as well as specialization modules and two new lore-heavy mini-campaigns in the form of Flashpoints. Whether it's your first flight, or if you are a seasoned veteran, Heavy Metal rounds out Battletech nicely.
BattleTech: Heavy Metal DLC could stand to have more exciting content, so that it isn't overshadowed by the accompanying free update.
A somewhat disappointing expansion for a fantastic strategy game. It adds enough strategic options and variety to combat that If you are already invested in BattleTech then you'll get a lot of enjoyment from what's in here.
BATTLETECH, released to critical acclaim 18 months ago, has been kept relatively fresh with the dripfeed DLC that Paradox and Harebrained has put out. From its stellar launch, brutal DLC, or its pinnacle send-off with Heavy Metal, has brought long nostalgia to the fore and kept it there. Though the Heavy Metal DLC offers a number of different loadout possibilities, it sadly, brings little new to the table by way of meaningful content. What content it does bring is exceptional, well-crafted, and exceptionally detailed and adds plenty of replayability; there is just that slight, tight tug of desire and longing.
