Baldur's Gate I & II: Enhanced Editions Reviews
Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition is a fun blast from the past for fans of classic RPGs. However, it's too rough around the edges for me to recommend unless you're a huge Dungeons & Dragons fan.
So is Baldur’s Gate Enhanced Edition worth your money? Only if you have the time and patience. The games rely heavily on nostalgia and can be a great reason to bring back classic games, but these should’ve stayed where it once was. The PC centric controls don’t apply well to controllers as it makes the simplest things cumbersome, the presentation is dated and it requires a lot of time and dedication. It’s easy to be overwhelmed with the number of things to manage/remember. If you stop playing, it’s easy to forget not only where you left off, but how to play the game. Unless you were a fan of the original a fan of nostalgia, save your money.
If you're a "vintage gamer" like myself who has been in the PC space you've definitely heard of, and likely played, one or both of these pen and paper inspired RPG classics...
This port to Nintendo Switch comes out well of one of the top works in the sector at the level of role-playing games. The control has been perfectly adapted to the joycons, and the game has a good font to read in Switch screen. Unfortunately, visually it is still exactly the same as it was 20 years ago, although due to its drawing style the graphics have not aged particularly badly. Nor do they take advantage of the tactile possibilities of the console and that is sadder, in addition to losing the audio in Spanish that the original version had. On the other hand, the additions and the possibility of playing anywhere can justify the purchase, always bearing in mind that these additions are the same ones that the PC version had back in 2012/2013. So the player who has already played those versions will only have the portable factor as a novelty, and at a price that is not exactly cheap.
