A new mode is coming to Ghost of Tsushima later this year.
On the PlayStation Blog, details for a new mode coming to Ghost of Tsushima were released. The new mode, entitled Ghost of Tsushima: Legends, will be a co-op mode for groups of 2-4 players. Each player chooses from one of four classes: the Samurai, Hunter, Ronin, or Assassin. Each class will have their own advantages and abilities. It was stated that more information on class abilities, customization, and more will be released in the future.
Groups of two players in Ghost of Tsushima: Legends will be able to take on a series of co-op Story missions that will escalate in difficulty. These missions will build on the foundation of combat from the single-player campaign, but will have new magical twists that will often require careful synchronization between the two players. Groups of four players will be able to take on wave-based Survival missions, where they will battle against the toughest enemies that Tsushima can throw at them, including new Oni enemies that will have supernatural abilities.
If players can best the Story and Survival missions, they may have the confidence to take on the four-player raid that will release shortly after the launch of Legends. This Raid will send players into an entirely new realm where they will challenge a brutal and terrifying enemy.
"Legends is an entirely new experience - it's a separate mode that doesn't follow Jin or the companions from his journey, but instead focuses on four warriors who have been built up as legends in stories told by the people of Tsushima," stated Darren Bridges, Senior Game Designer at Sucker Punch Productions. "Ghost of Tsushima's single-player campaign focuses on an open world and exploring the natural beauty of the island, but Legends is haunting and fantastical, with locations and enemies inspired by Japanese folk tales and mythology and an emphasis on coopertaive combat and action."
Ghost of Tsushima is available now for the PlayStation 4. Legends will be a free mode that will release this fall.
