Donkey Kong Bananza’s characters and world might resemble those of a famous Disney movie, but the game’s producer has shot down any comparisons, despite many fans online saying that DK’s new adventure was taking inspiration from a film.
While Donkey Kong Bananza stars video game’s most famous monkey, he won’t be going on this adventure alone. He’s joined by Pauline from the old Donkey Kong arcade game, who has made numerous appearances in modern Mario titles. For some reason, Pauline is thirteen-years-old in Donkey Kong Bananza, so she rides around on his shoulder, helping him with her singing voice.
When Pauline’s role in Donkey Kong Bananza was revealed, many noticed similarities between her dynamic with DK and that of Vanellope and Ralph in Wreck-It-Ralph. This connection was brought up to producer Kenta Motokura in an interview IGN, where he denied that the film influenced the game.
Donkey Kong Bananza Wasn’t Inspired By Wreck-It-Ralph
Motokura denied that Pauline and Donkey Kong’s dynamic in Donkey Kong Bananza was in any way inspired by Wreck-It-Ralph. This is due to Pauline riding around on DK resembling Vanellope riding around on Ralph.
