Elden Ring Nightreign's next update is coming on July 30, giving us a new play to play. As of Patch 1.02, we'll be able to play in duos, no longer having to find a third player before we can start an expedition.

This comes after FromSoftware made the bold move of locking Elden Ring Nightreign's multiplayer to teams of three. Anyone in a duo would have to use the in-game matchmaking to find a third player to tag along (or mod the game), which proved problematic at launch.

In a trailer for the patch, we can see duos working together on an expedition. From the gameplay footage, it's confirmed that this isn't a case of a duo being given another teammate controlled by AI, but rather a full two-player experience. It's likely that there's been some rebalancing to make two-player expeditions feasible, so you're not at too much of a disadvantage for dropping the third player.

With that said, there is still no word on cross-play coming to Nightreign. This means that, even after this update, you and the buddy you want to team up with will have to be on the same platform, or at least...
