The showrunner behind Amazon's upcoming God of War adaptation, Ronald D. Moore, has revealed that he's watched the game's cutscenes to get an understanding of the story, while also trying to play the game himself.

Considering how cinematic 2018's God of War is and how much gaming adaptations are being pushed in recent years, it didn't come as a surprise when Amazon announced that it was going to be making a show based on the Norse saga. What did come as a somewhat controversial surprise, though, was showrunner Ronald D. Moore's relationship with the series.

You don't need to be a gamer to understand what makes a good adaptation.

Shortly after it was announced that Ronald D. Moore, best known for his work on Star Trek and Outlander, would be the new showrunner and executive producer on the God of War series, Moore confirmed that he hadn't played any of the games. This caused a big stir for fans, who expected someone familiar with Kratos and Atreus to be in charge of the adaptation.
