It's no secret that Civilization 7 had a turbulent launch. Exactly six months ago, Civilization 7 was released to fans globally, accompanied by a sea of complaints about UI issues and aggressive AI, all met with promises from Firaxis that it remained "committed to getting this right" and that fixes were on the way.
Now, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick tells IGN that Civilization 7 will meet expectations throughout the title's lifetime, despite Steam player counts suggesting Civilization 5 and Civilization 6 are more popular with fans. Currently, Civilization 7 has mixed reviews on Steam, and fans are still upset about the state of the game as it stands.
"I think the key thing is that Civ has always been a slow burn," Zelnick says. "Our projections for the lifetime value of the title are very consistent with our initial expectations for the title." Zelnick believes updates will help right the ship when it comes to Civilization 7, and he also believes Civilization 7 will meet the company's expectations, but fans are still sounding off about the title.
