Exclusive: "Yeah, That's A Misstep On Our Side" - Dune: Awakening Producer Promises That It Won't Fill The Game With Silly Cosmetics

Last night, developer Funcom announced the first two major expansions for Dune: Awakening. Chapter 2 will be free DLC, continuing the story from the first part of the game, and The Lost Harvest will be a paid content pack, introducing new dungeons, a new vehicle, and new cosmetics.

Immediately after the reveal, players expressed their concerns that Funcom was selling out the game, introducing Fortnite-style cosmetics based on a new flamethrower with a dragon’s head muzzle.

Funcom immediately issued a statement saying, “The flamethrower in question has context in the game. It’s not just a thing that shows up with zero context.” However, it didn’t close the door on whether silly cosmetics would show up in the future.

Thankfully, at Gamescom this year, we managed to grab a word with Scott Junior, chief product officer and executive producer at Funcom, who assured us that there is no chance of any out-of-place cosmetics making an appearance.
